Bridge 14.0 disables edits to raw files when .jpg/.jpeg exported to same folder

I was excited to hear that Adobe added the ability to select the .jpg extension instead of always using .jpeg when exporting JPG files (because it allows me to directly overwrite the out-of-camera JPGs with their better processed versions), but when I tried that new capability, it had the undesired side effect of disabling the edits I made to the RAW (.nef) files if I exported the JPG to the same folder as the RAW file. This is a problem for me since I shoot RAW + JPG and prefer storing them in the same folder. This doesn't seem to happen if I export the JPG files to a different folder. But if I'm going to have to export them to another folder and then copy them back, it's almost as clunky as the writing to .jpeg and using bulk rename to change them to .jpg (and overwrite existing files) that I was doing before.

I tracked down the issue to the .xmp files having their "AlreadyApplied" flag set to True. If I manually edit the .xmp file in a text editor like Notepad/Notepad++ and set that value to false, the edits to the RAW file are once again enabled.

I can't imagine I'm the only person who shoots and stores their photos this way, so I'm wondering why this change was made in Bridge 14.0. Am I missing a setting somewhere that would address this problem?

Thank you for responding. I did not notice this issue with the jpeg export in the previous version of Bridge. It seems to only happen when the .jpg file extension is specified, not when the .jpeg extension is specified. I have created a zip file with the video and some test files and will upload it to the email address you provided.

The versions of the software I'm using are:

Bridge: 14.0.0.102

Camera Raw: 15.5.1.1597

Photoshop: 25.0.0
