Bridge CC 2018 File info panel

Engaged ,
Oct 22, 2017 Oct 22, 2017

Just installed the latest version of Bridge 8.0.0.262, where I found that the Description and Keyword panels (in the Info Panel) cannot be resized

I think this is a major step backwards, as I only a couple of lines can be seen. The colour of the panel is also much darker than before, which makes the text harder to read. Usually have more than 20 lines for my purpose (especially the description panel) and need to see than all at once, which I do by expanding the panel

I wonder if this could be changed - apart from reinstalling CC 2017?

I don't know what to do about resizing the Description and Keywords fields. But you can do something about the colors. If you go into Bridge Preferences and select the Interface panel, you can select a lighter Color Theme or move the User Interface Brightness slider.

thanks for trying to be helpful.

The colour scheme chosen is already light. The new panel is the only one darker than the rest.It should be similar as all other panels, but isn't.

Hi,

For resizing Description and Keyword panels, try switching to Preview panel from Publish Panel, and then try resizing.

Thanks,

Deepak Gupta

I think you misunderstood the original question. It is not the Preview Panel, but the new Info Panel, which comes up when you right-click on a picture and choose File info

Hi ,

For the color of the panel please give us the screenshots so that we can help you out. Also you can customize the look of the bridge using  bridge preferences => Interface .

Thanks,

Bridge Team,

It is apparently an “improvement” and now is similar to Photoshop:

Improved File Info dialog

I wouldn't worry too much about the colour, but the inability to expand the individual windows is a step backwards. In my work I enter sometimes 20 or 30 lines of text in the description panel. Now I can only see about 4 lines without scrolling. Would have to copy it to a Notepad to see all text at once

I have tried to alter an existing inspector panel script, with no luck… Perhaps somebody that knows scripting could create an inspector panel script to display the description metadata for the selected image (perhaps not multiple images if there is so much text).

Thanks, but this doesn't achieve much. Why not go back to enable expanding the window, as it was with all previous versions. This is how the last version was:

Hello there,

still no fix, no nothing?

Would be really appreciated if the boxes were expandable again and would retain its adjusted shape on reopening.

Cheers, Ollie

I'm also still waiting for an improvement. The panel had been great for years, why the change to something useless. As already mentioned, went back to previous version, with the new one on a test PC. This is to see if there are any changes...

Hi. I would like to add that I noticed these changes as well. I understand they made a leap forward with standardizing File Info panels to be consistent between all CC apps that support them, but agree that these un-sizeable fields is a bit of a problem. i didn't realize the lack of memory of dialog box size or type aheads. wow.

I would also love some better documentation on the subject of creating your own custom file info panel tabs, now that it's in the "add-on" architecture.

Bridge CC 2018 suffers, and we suffer from

  • Not retaining/offering last template in ‘File info’ box, as in the previous versions of Bridge/Photoshop
  • no predictive recent keywords as in the previous versions
  • no spellcheck !
  • And now the file info templates are not in alphabetical order

How are these basics missing from the ‘File info’ dialogue box ??

It's pity Bridge team doesn't care of these bugs. It's hard to believe so big comapny ignores their users pernamently.

This seems to be a point of recurring frustration amongst Bridge (& Ps) users.  In support of clarification of this problem I add the following comments

Bridge CC 2018 in many respects has taken a massive retrograde step in relation to the 'file info' box

  • By not retaining last template in ‘file info’ box, as in the previous versions
  • ‘file info’ dialogue box does not retain its adjusted shape on reopening of Bridge, as in the previous version.  The default dialogue box size is far too small for use, requiring me to stretch it every time I open Bridge, which can be up to 20 times a day !!
  • no predictive recent keywords as in the previous version.  In fact extending the number of remembered keyword entries would be incredibly useful

Why have these features been cut out (when using MacOS High Sierra) ?  I hope restoration is rapid - it should be simple and straight forward to reintroduce these deleted features, surely

Also, why is there no spellcheck when typing in ‘file info’ box ?

I do hope these simple points are attended to quickly, letting us return to a more effective workflow

Thank you

Nick

More than 4 months since the new version of Adobe Bridge (2018) was released (and 2 months since last update). I hope Adobe plans to bring back some functionality to the file info panel from Bridge CC 2017? Would be very happy about it. Although I understand that the underlaying structure for the file info panel in the 2018 version is complete different compared to version 2017.

After NINE months of waiting and last update 2 weeks ago Expandable Description field still doesn't work in File Info Panel.
