Whenever I leave Bridge idle and open for a few minutes, when I return to it I cannot reactivate, minimise or close it. The only way to accomplish any of these tasks is to exit using ctrl-alt-delete and Task Manager, then re-open it. I am running Windows 10. Can anyone suggest how to correct this fault ?

You can try resetting the preferences of Bridge by following the steps mentioned below: -
Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.
