Has anyone had any issues with Bridge 12.01 not saving keywords? Same with PS and Illustrator

I'm trying to add keywords to GIF and jpg files and nothing I do is working.  I've tried adding them in Bridge, and in the application it indicates the keywords but when I check the file with another application, none appear.  I've tried adding keywords using Photoshop 2022 (23.3.1) and Illustrator (26.0.3) and that doesn't work either.

I'm using a new M1 Max Macbook pro 16.

Does anyone know a fix or the reason this isn't working?

Are you saving or exporting?

GIF doesn't support keyword metadata.

JPEG does support keyword/subject metadata, among many other forms.

What other application are you using to check the metadata?

Where are these files stored? Are you using the Keyword panel in Bridge?
