How to display embedded JPGs instead of rendering the RAW files in Bridge?

Explorer ,

I would like to browse my files using the camera created JPEGs, the same way you do in Photo Mechanic for example. Is it possible in Bridge or am I forced to see the dull RAW files? Thank you!

Hi alessandroavenali,

You may specify DNG Conversion Settings when importing images into Bridge:

JPEG Preview: Choose Medium size or Full Size to generate JPEG previews of the converted DNG images. If you do not want to generate JPEG previews, choose None from the drop-down list.

DNG Conversion Settings dialog in Adobe Bridge

Also, you can specify that Adobe Bridge display embedded, high-quality, or 1:1 previews of image thumbnails for individual folders of images

  • For faster browsing, choose a folder and then select the Browse Quickly By Preferring Embedded Images button in the Adobe Bridge application bar.
  • To display higher-quality thumbnail previews, click theOptions For Thumbnail Quality And Preview Generation button in the Adobe Bridge application bar and choose one of the following:

Prefer Embedded (Faster) to use the low-resolution thumbnails embedded in the source file. These thumbnails aren’t color managed. This option is equivalent to choosing Browse Quickly By Preferring Embedded Images.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,

Akash

I'm sorry, I don't get it.

I just go to a folder where RAW files are, and browse them. No import process.

I have already flagged "Browse quickly by preferring embedded images" and the icon next to it is set to "Prefer Embedded (Faster)".

Despite that, I still see straight, dull, color raw photo instead of my in-camera black and white processed previews.

I'm referring to the latest version of Bridge 2019.

Well, I am not aware of such options that Bridge offers this functionality. This could be a great feature request.

I have asked the Engineering team for a confirmation.

However, I'd recommend you to suggest this as a feature request on our Feedback community here: Bridge | Photoshop Family Customer Community

Our Engineers do monitor this space and look for major feature requests from our valuable users like you to shape the product further.

I have the same problem. I shoot in RAW only on Fujifilm X-T2 on most of the time in black and white. When the images are imported in Adobe Bridge they turn up in colour. I would have liked it so that the image settings are applied not a standard image preview. Adobe Bridge and Adobe Photoshop is an excellent combo - except for this. I am looking into Adobe Lightroom to see if it is possible to fit my workflow in there but Adobe Lightroom doesn´t allow me the same control of my editing.

Lightroom cannot read the black and white setting, as the files are actually color and must be rendered as black and white in post processing. Fuji may do this in their software but otherwise you must either shoot JPEG or apply a conversion in Lightroom.

The raw file is just readings off the sensor. All other information like white balance, sharpness etc is available for any software to read. If other software can do it then Lightroom / bridge can.

No. That's not how it works. Adjustments are proprietary and do not work across different software. The camera settings cannot be used by Adobe.
