Hi Where exactly in Preferences should I go to give Bridge App permissions?
I have been running the old Bridge app without any problems...
Thanks
Ian

Go to your System Preferences and select Security and Privacy (found in the top section). Now click on the Privacy setting (last tab). Now click on the lock on the bottom left and provide your Administrator code. Now select the Full Disk Access option and click on the "+" symbol. This will bring up the standard Mac Open window and let you add any application you want or need to have full access. Look for Bridge, select it, it will now appear in that window and make sure it's checked. Next go to the Files and Folders option and do the same thing as above (although there's nothing to check, just add. Close everything down and see if that makes it all work.
Please let me know

I have a similar problem which I suspect may be related so I'll post here but move on to a new thread if necessary. I don't mean to hijack.
Without explanation Bridge stopped opening Raw files in Camera Raw. I Can open raw files from Ps>File>Open & browsing via the finder. All I get via Br is the dreaded spinning ball. I tried everything including updating to Big Sur from Catalina. Also uninstallng and Reinstalling both Bridge & Photoshop (via Creative Cloud).
I also just followed your instructions above giving full disc access. The second instruction re files & Folders doesn't work because Bridge & Ps are greyed out and I can't get any response trying to add+ them.
The issue seems to be in Bridge not Ps. If uninstalling/reinstalling didnt fix it what else can I try? As I said this came out of the blue, I've been using this workflow of browsing in Bridge & right-clicking>Open in Camera Raw for years.

Solved!
Deleted a few startup scripts and Reset Prefs according to this page-

I have had this same frustrating problem on my Mac Book Pro, running OSX 11.2.3 and the latest Bridge. The same combination runs fine on a new Mac Pro and an older iMac. I followed all the online advice, including uninstalling and re-installing Bridge, running Apple Disc Utility, resetting Preferences, etc., all with no luck. I tried all of these fixes at least a dozen times over a two week period. Bridge would sometimes run for a short time but always freeze, requiring a Force Quit. It was only when I disabled all of the Startup Scripts in Bridge Preferences did the problem finally seem to disappear.

Well, I wrote too soon as the problem has resurfaced and now, no matter what I do, I cannot run Bridge on my Mac Book Pro.

Hi @Ian Finnan
Could you please share the following details to help us debug the issue:
- Type of file format
- Any particular operation that you are doing when observing the freeze.
- A short video of the issue you are observing.
Thanks,
Bridge Team

The file format does not seem to be a factor. I have JPEGs, TIFFs, DNG & RAW format files.
There is no rhyme or reason to when Bridge freezes. I am simply opening it then using the Folder panel to select a specific Folder in order to review the files within that Folder. Sometimes it freezes immediately, at best I might get an hour or two of use before it freezes again. I have de-installed then re-installed Bridge almost 20 times; sometimes running Apple Disk Utility in between the two functions. Always rebooting. I have turned off all the Start Up Scripts. The problem happens with Bridge v10 and all the later v11's. The latest Bridge runs fine on my relatively new Mac Pro, and, on an older iMac, both running Big Sur. Clearly there is something going on in my Mac Book Pro that is causing this annoying problem. My guess it has something to do with rebuilding the cache in a newly opened Folder.

This hugely annoying problem persists. I spent a full 90 minutes on the phone with a senior Adobe tech support person, who at the end of the process blamed it on the Apple OSX and my specific User Account. She had be create a test user account, install Bridge, and see if it worked. It worked while we were still on the phone but shortly after Bridge once again froze. I guess I can call Apple Support but it certainly appears to be a Bridge issue, not an Apple issue. Extremely time consuming & frustrating. Mark Weidman

Building cache is a CPU intensive process, and if you are moving to folders having large number of files (for which cache is not yet generated).. It generates cache for the files in the folder.
You can try switching to "Embedded" Preview size for thumbnail and preview quality option, that would help you to gain better performance.

Thanks for the reply & suggestion, which I will try. The Folder I typically have open in Bridge usually has between 10-20 files in it, which clearly is not very many. There is some bigtime glitch in attempting to run Bridge on my Apple Mac Pro running OSXv11.3.1. This is far from a matter of Performance; it is more a matter of being able to run Bridge at all on my Mac. I run the same version of Bridge on two other Macs, running the same OSX, and have absolutely no problems.
This has been a huge waste of my time and impacted my business. I am investigating alternative softwares.

This issue continues to the point where I cannot run Bridge at all on my Apple Mac Book Pro. Disheartening and a huge waste of time that has effected my business. If anyone else has new suggestions I would love to hear them. Mark Weidman

You would need to investigate log files and Activity Monitor to see what else is running and where your performance is going. Difficult to do on a forum, if its that important than an Apple Store might be the next stop.

Mark, two things: first I removed all of your personal information in your message above. I just happened to have noticed that and removed it. Please be aware that not everyone who sees these messages are good people. 'Nuff said.
There are thousands of people who are on Big Sur and are using the latest Bridge (myself included) who are not having any of the issues you are having. Unless there is a repeatable issue, there's nothing that Adobe can do to fix something. Yes, it's just like bringing your car into the shop but in the shop it works just fine: no funny noises, engine doesn't skip, wheels do not fall off, there's not much for the shop to do.
Here are some self-maintenance things that you can do that will cost nothing but a little time.
1) Go Download Big Sur Cache Cleaner. It's free to download and if you don't like it, toss it but it has helped me a number of times. If you buy it the charge is nominal. It does a variety of things but the two you should try is the general maintenance operations, click on ALL and then click on Run. (These are things that are supposed to be self-run by the Mac OS while the computer is asleep but this just guarantees that they are done.) Then click on the Cache tab, select the Middle option and run in on all Caches. (Note: it will seem like nothing has happened and you're good to close it down but wait a few minutes and then you'll have to restart your computer. Just be patient)
2) Go into Safe Mode. Restart your computer and when the screen goes black, press the Shift key until the progress bar is displaying for a minute or two. This startup will take a lot longer than you think it should and if it's much much longer, that means that the Mac is doing a lot of repair on your system. Your Mac will run ridiculously slow after you start up and if you want to see if Bridge is crashing or not you can but I can't say it will make much of a difference.
3) Go into Repair Mode: Restart your computer and when the screen goes black press the Option + Command + r keys. When you see a glob spinning, you can let go. This will take a long time, 5-20 minutes depending on your Internet speeds. During this you may or may not be asked to sign into your wifi (if you're on wifi). [One option to get around this delay is if you have a partition with an operating system on your computer or a separate hard drive to boot up off of.] Now go into Disk First Aid and see this dropdown menu in upper left corner of the DFA and select Show All Devices:
If you do not see this, restart into a normal startup and then repeat #3. Once selected, you should see your hard drive displaying something like this. (It will be different because I took these screenshots running DFA while I'm writing this.)

Now, run this from top down. That is select a top offering, and run the process. If you see any errors, run it again. Then, once clean do the next one, etc. The last one is "(your hard drive)" - Data." Once that one is running clean, restart.
Lastly, good luck!!

Hello Mark Weidman. I found this thread and I am having the EXACT same issues with my Macbook Pro running Big Sur. Did this work for you? I've going through all but the last set of instructions by Gary. It's completely unusable at this point. Bridge was so nice a few years ago...

There should be crash logs on your system. Do you get the crash report window? That would give clues as well.

Ok, we don't know any details from your computer. macOS version? Bridge version? WHAT is actually happening? Do you get any crash reports? Have you reset Bridge preferences?

Bought a brand new 2021 iMac 27" i7 and fitted it with 72Gb of RAM and the performance of Bridge 2021 was WORSE than it was on my old 2011 machine with 8Gb of RAM. My fix? installed Bridge 2020 which zipped through my files while doing a Metadata search - exactly as I expected 2021 to do.
Really poor, Adobe - get it sorted. There seems to be a growing number of people with spinning beach balls of death and 'Adobe Bridge 2021 is not responding' messages to warrant some proper attention for the money we're paying you.

Damnit, spoke too soon. In the time I spent writing the above, Bridge 2020 also froze with the beachball of death. Only difference now is that Activity Monitor says 'Adobe Bridge 2020 is not responding' instead of 2021.
Total crap! At least CS6 was stable...

Ich habe dasselbe Problem und schon alles getan, was hier vorgeschlagen wurde. Ich kann maximal 2 Minuten arbeiten, dann rollt der Ball...Bleibt wohl nur, auf ein Update zu warten! Verdammter Mist.
