I am new to metadata and Bridge, but I'm pretty sure it's going to change my life! In my workflow I take photos from my phone and load them into dropbox. From there I usually change formats and sizes for various social media uses. I am going to attempt to use Bridge to automate file format changes for me. But when that is all done, I need the newly assigned metadata for those images to stay with the image when I put them back onto my Photos app for use in social media. Is it possible that metadata will stay with the image?

Or....is there a way to choose images for social media management through Bridge? Maybe something I just haven't discovered yet?

Bridge embeds metadata into the file itself using the XMP format which is widely supported by most apps. Photo apps generally support a range of metadata standards with IPTC being the most widely used.

Beware: some social media apps strip embedded metadata, for whatever reason. You need to know which fields your social media apps support before you begin.

In Bridge, the embedded metadata is included when you make derivatives, even when you change format. When you set up export workflows, be sure to use the Apply Metadata step and include all original metadata:

Do some tests with Bridge and Photos to be sure it's working as expected.
