Bridge doesn't have a Map module.

Thanks for your reaction. Actually I don't exactly know what you mean by 'Map module'. If you mean that I can see on a map where the picture was taken, then I'm not interested in that. I only want to see in IPTC Core the name of the location and the country where I made that photo, just like in Lightroom Classic.

Strange enough I have some pictures in my ca. 40.000 photos in Bridge where IPTC Core shows the location and country... Even pictures made years ago with an iPhone 6.

I have a lot of photos made by my iPhone 12 Pro. In IPTC Core I only can see the GPS coordinates...

You can configure Bridge to display, in the Metadata Panel, any/all of IPTC, IPTC Core and IPTC Extension metadata by going to Preferences>Metadata and scrolling down to the IPTC metadata fields.

Not sure that this is what you are looking for.

Hi Erik, thanks for the clear explanation. Yes, I know the Metadata Panel. What I want to see in IPTC Core is the location, country etc. I have photos I made in many, many countries so I want to know. But Bridge does not show this... (never mind the Dutch)

If the metadata exists within your photos then it should be displayed in the Metadata Panel.

Are you saying that the data exists but is not displayed?

Hi, @bertvegter, rather than taking photos of your screen, here's how to take screenshots on a Mac:

Common Screenshot Shortcuts

  • Entire Screen: Press and release Shift-Command-3.
  • Selected Portion: Press Shift-Command-4, then drag the crosshair to select the area and release.
  • Window or Menu: Press Shift-Command-4, then the Spacebar. The cursor turns into a camera. Click the window or menu you want to capture.

  • Screenshot Toolbar: Press Shift-Command-5 to open a menu with options for capturing the whole screen, a window, a portion, or recording your screen.
  • Touch Bar: Press Shift-Command-6 to capture the Touch Bar.

Pro Tips
  • Copy to Clipboard: Hold the Control (⌃) key while pressing the shortcut (e.g., Control-Shift-Command-3) to copy the screenshot instead of saving it as a file.
  • Move/Resize Selection: After pressing Shift-Command-4, press the Spacebar to move the selection box, or hold Option (⌄) to resize from the center.
  • Save Location: Use the Shift-Command-5 menu's "Options" to change where screenshots are saved (Desktop, Documents, Clipboard, etc.).
  • Edit/Share: A thumbnail appears in the corner; click it to instantly mark up, trim, or share, or just wait for it to save to your Desktop.

Thnx Gary for the tips. Probably some ago I did such things but forgot. I will print the tips and keep them with my Mac.

But... since I see you are a Community Expert: Do you have a solution for this 'photo location issue' in Bridge? Am I the only one?

Hi, @bertvegter, not really. I think Erik has provided the best suggestions, more than I could have provided.

I do not disagree with your wish; it doesn't seem to me that that should be a hard task, but then I do not even play a programmer on TV, so expectations from me are not worth much.

I guess for me, the issue is how I use both LRC and Bridge — I use them both for different needs and expectations. I use Bridge for short-term Photoshop/ACR enhancement needs. For example, I do the newsletter for my woodworking club. I receive images from others and use Bridge to figure out which images I need to focus on and prep for the newsletter (made in InDesign). Once that month's images are done, I'll likely never see them again. I do not get rid of them, for various reasons, but they are just kept by year and month. I also use Bridge when taking images of things for selling or giving away. Again, no long-term storage is needed or intended.

I use LRD & LRM for the convenience of taking a photo on my phone, then going to my computer for selection and enhancement.

I use LRC for all other photos. These are of travels, family, events, and things that I want to be able to access now and in the future. I know many photographers who store their images in one primary folder, the year, and may have subfolders of the month. That's not how my brain works, so my storage dynamic is a bit different than many: I keep all images of a (say) trip in one folder. Within that are subfolders of the various places I've been to on the trip. If I've been to a location a number of times, I'll have the primary folder identified with the state, and the subfolders the state, year, and sub-subfolders having the specific locations. I've been to Nigra Falls multiple times, both from the Canadian side and the New York side. Again, each of those photos is in its respective trip's folder. However, if I want to see ALL photos of Niagara Falls, I can click on the keyword link for that, and all photos of Niagara Falls can be seen. If I want, I can simplify this by creating a Collection and placing all of them in it.  My wife does textiles, mostly quilts at this point, so when we're traveling, and there is a quilt or some other fabric art form. I keyword them as I'm enhancing the images, and I Smart Collection of these, which automatically pushes an alias of the image into that Collection. So she can click through it for ideas and inspiration.

Now, LR Desktop does have both maps and locations, but personally, I do not like their map image.

ā€ƒOn the other hand, I love how LR Classic shows its Maps. Here, I'm in Quidi Vici in Newfoundland and I took a bunch of photos at this one location.

2025-12-24_14-22-06.png

But if I want to see where I've been in Newfoundland on this trip, I can select all the photos I took and present this:

ā€ƒ

[Note: when we were passing through St. Mary's it was dark, so no photography.]ā€ƒ

So, basically, I use the tool that is best for what I want to get out of it. I would be equally distraught if either of these were dropped at some point in the future.

If you have any questions on what I do or why, I'd be happy to elaborate. But I think I've written enough for now.

Oh, there's one other advantage I use LRC for, but I'll be sending you a private message with a link. In a few minutes, look at the upper right corner of this window and look for a message in the Envelope icon.

Bridge doesn't have a Map module! That means it doesn't have a way to automatically figure out where a photo was taken based on lat/long. You can manually fill in the location and then it will be displayed. otherwise you have to use an app like Lightroom which has mapping.

Hi @bertvegter if you are on Windows this wonderful script from @Erik Bloodaxe worked for me, just tested on Bridge 16.0.1: Bridge Map view plug in or extension? - Adobe Product Community - 14952198

Hi,

No, Bridge is not on Windows and actually I'm not so interested in a map plug in.

In fact: I have the latest Lightroom Classic in Windows in virtual machine-mode on my iMac. That is because my MacOS is a little bit too old for the latest LR Classic.

But, LR Classic is somewhat slow in Windows, so I turned to Bridge in MacOS.
