Lately, whenever I launch Bridge, Creative Cloud Desktop opens and looks for file in some phantom USB drive. I can get out of it but this is a workflow killer. What the Heck is going on?

Make sure you have the latest version of ACC installed.
Suggest you un-install, reboot and install a fresh version of Bridge

Had this same problem after I just updated both PS and Bridge on my PC. Discovered that I still had two different versions of PS on my machine, and the older version (cc 2018) was trying to open the latest version of Bridge, which apparently caused the conflict. So, uninstalled the older version of Bridge, and pinned the new version of PS (kept the old one on my PC just in case) to my start menu so it would open when I clicked. Once I opened the latest version of PS, clicked Browse in Bridge, and viola... Opened Bridge directly... working correctly again !
