Ratings are automatically applied when opening images

I am new to Bridge and I have discovered that when I open files in Preview, all of them are automatically flagged with 5 stars.  If I set this up somehow, I have no idea how I did it.  I am hoping someone can tell me how to remove the stars in bulk, and how to avoid having them rated automatically.

Thank you in advance.

Lumigraphics and Gary_SC,

I just went through newly added images in the View:  Review Mode and none of them have stars.  So, I don't want to trouble any of you any further.  I must have done something myself that caused the initial batch to be starred.

I so very much appreciate your willingnes to take the time to help.

Why are you opening your files in Preview?

Sir, I'm not sure how to answer your question.  This is my first time to use Bridge.  Perhaps I should not have used the word Preview.

Hi Cahab,

Looking at your screenshot, I now see that you are on Windows.

On the Mac, there is an application called Preview that lets you see most kinds of image formats (including PDFs). The implication I got from your comment let me assume that you were browsing images in Bridge, then, viewing them in Preview. This would have required you to drag the image from Bridge onto the Preview app in the Mac Dock or configure your copy of Bridge to automatically open image files into Preview as opposed to the default: Photoshop.

In this case, you were observing the files in the Preview Panel. My confusion, my bad.

You can now see my confusion.

We need a lot more information. You mention Preview, are you on a Mac? If so what os version and what version of Bridge? What files are these, are they on your hard drive already or??? Do you have any metadata templates (a type of preset)? Are you also using Lightroom or any other organizer?

Thank you, Lumigraphics.

Windows 10, OS 19043.1586

Bridge version:  12.0.1.246

The files are already on my hard drive, copied directly from my sd card.

I did an online tutorial on Bridge, but I do not recall instruction on creation of metadata templates.  I'll be glad to look, but I'm not sure where to look.  I'll attach a screenshot.

I have used Lightroom before but these files were never opened in Lightroom.

Through Microcoft File Explorer from the SD card to my hard drive.  Drag and drop.
