Ratings settings to not include control

Is it just me or is v12 now back to having to use ctrl with number? I was so happy with the last version now I can't find the setting to able to just use a number. Please tell me it is still an option.

This is just a setting in Preferences:

I agree, I always have this off.

However, this setting I always have On, I find it a PIA to always have to undo the loupe.
