Rotate image in bridge: What is expected behavior? Do I need to save or export to have the rotation

Explorer ,
Nov 25, 2023 Nov 25, 2023

Have large number of .tif scans, and need to manually rotate many of them. They are properly rotated in Bridge, but when I look into their folder via windows explorer - they have not changed.

Is there an additional step I need to take at this point?

This indicates that the rotation Is applied as a metadata instruction, so yes, you're going to need to save the rotation into the pixel content. Hopefully these aren't JPEG files.

So Bridge only applies the rotation as meta data?

Why would it matter if they are jpeg files?

Because decompressing and recompressing in a lossy format such as JPEG leads to minor image degradation each time that it is performed. In practice this may not be noticeable, just stating best practice.
