Not a feature that I am aware of in Bridge.

We really need this feature. We want to filter/search for a single word that is contained in a folder name / folder path. This would be very helpful!

Edit->Find and search on Filename. This will locate folders as well as files.

Thank you for your reply.

We would like to display all images that are located in a folder with the name “XYZ”, for example. So we don't want to display the folders in Bridge, but all images that are located within a folder with a specific name.

Is this possible?

Yes, look in "View" and uncheck "Show Folders".

Thank you 🙂

  1.  I uncheck "Show Folders" under "View"
  2.  I searched for criteria --> filename --> "03_JPG" (folder name)
  3.  We have a lot of images that are located in folder with the name "03_JPG" but no images show up.

(I also tried View --> "Show items from Subfolders"). But still there were no search results.

Do you have any further advice?

Apologies if I am not fully understanding your problem.

It looks like you are searching for a folder but to view its contents you need to open it first.

Search will find a folder but does not open it automatically.

Incidentally, if you know the name of the required folder, why do you need to perform a search at all?

Why not simply locate the folder in the Folders Panel and open it from there?

You might also add the folder or parent folder to your Favorites for quicker access in the future.

Hope this helps.

We have the following folder structure:

Marketing-Images

       Shooting 1

              01_RAW

              02_PSD

              03_JPG

       Shooting 2

              01_RAW

              02_PSD

              03_JPG

       Shooting 3

              01_RAW

              02_PSD

              03_JPG

etc.

Now I want to search in the "Marketing-Images" folder for all pictures that are located in any of the "03_JPG" subfolders that have 5-stars for example.

Can I do that with Bridge?

Hope this helps to clarify what we want to do.

How about you add the parent folder "Marketing-Images" to your Favorites then you can select it from the Favorites Panel with a single click. Now choose "Show items from Subfolders" (You can create a custom shortcut to speed this, I use Shift + S . You can also create a custom shortcut for hiding folders.) This will display everything including what you do not want to see. Suggest you then use the Filter Panel to filter out what you don't want to see. The Filter Panel can be customised to simplify the filter criteria and reduce unnecessary or irrelevant filter options (click on the three bars next to the word Filter.) You can filter on file type so that you can see JPEG images only and also on ratings so that you see only 5* images. Select both these criteria and you will see only your 5* JPEG images.

Would that work for you?

That does not work because we also have JPG images in our "RAW" folder. That is the reason I want to filter for images that lie in a specific subfolder.

I though that your folder structure contained an element of logic, but why put JPEGs in the RAW folders when you have  separate JPEG folders? This seems rather perplexing.

Anyway, if you must keep some JPEGs in the RAW folders for whatever reason, then the only option I can suggest  to be able to filter them out is to use color labels or keywords to distinguish those from the JPEGs in the JPEG folders. You can then do what I suggested above but also include labels or keywords in the your filter crireria.

Other than that, I am out of suggestions.

Yes, you search for the folder name and show that folder in Bridge.

But I do not want to see the many "03_JPG" folders but the images that lie in the  "03_JPG" folders. Is that possible?

Otherwise I have to click through all the JPG folders.

No, you have to find the folders first and then show the one you want. Or you could write a script that does this.
