Please verify your OS (and what release) and exactly which version of Bridge and AI you are using.

That will help.

I found a solution of sorts.
By going into Bridge Preferences and selecting File Type Associates and
picking the files types I needed to open in illustrator ( eps, pdf, jpeg
etc) and changing the setting to Illustrator 2020, clicking on the file in
Bridge will open it straight into illustrator. This mostly served my
purposes. Of course that doesn't help if you actually want to open it in
its original format!

I have the same problem.

It started after installing Bridge 2020 and illustrator 2020

interestingly i still had AI 2019. So when I right Clicked the pull down asked if i wanted to open in 19 first followed by 20.

when i selected 20 it would work.

SO I deleted AI. 2019... that didn't help Help... it made matters worse. double clicking still no worky, and right clicking and clicking on AI 20, no longer works... but draging the file down to the Dock (OSX) still works.

I guess basically you have to go into Bridge prefrences/FileType Associations and manually set each file type to open in the application of your choice. I don't have Acrobat or Photoshop since Adobe started charging extra for them, but have set my files I use to open in illustrator 20. The 'open in' feature no longer works though.

The File association for .ai Seems to have fixed the problem for me.

thank you.

What was odd, is that it was defaulted to this Robin thing... where did that come from?
