3d Camera Tracker Error 'unable to obtain dynamiclink server connection'. I have re-installed and updated to the latest release. Please note I do not use dynamic link ever! 2017 Imac Monterey Vers 12.6 64GB Ram, Radeon Pro 580 8 GB. Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated. My productivity vs cost of Adobe subscription has been seriously compromised this year. Rich.

Hi everyone, I had a meeting today with Sean and Jamie from Adobe. They had me enable logging, and run the tracker again. This time after my crash and "unable to to obtain dynamiclink server connection" error, we saw that a .dll in my MediaCore folder from 3rd party developer KeenTools had caused the crash. I uninstalled the plugin, wiped the KeenTools folder, and my problem was solved!

This was after uninstalling adobe, running the cleaner tool, launching in safe mode, etc. Somehow the plugin

I'm not having any problems with a slightly newer M1 MacBook Pro and AE 23.1.0. It took about 20 seconds to start up and analyze a 6-second, 120 fps, 4K, ProRez video.

What version of AE are you using, and how much ram have you allocated to other apps in Preferences/Media and Disk Cache? You can get there using the keyboard shortcut Alt/Option + Ctrl/Cmnd + ;

An even multiple of 4 GB usually works best.

The problem is something with the network. Obviously an external Adobe server is called upon during the startup you mentioned. It has little to do with how fast or new the computer is, though obviously some overambitioned software writer at Adobe upgraded the dynamic link part on a too new machine, so older OS's have a problem establishing the dynamic link. This can't be that hard to figure out. It used to work fine. Adobe, act now.

I am having the exact same problem, AE version is 23.1, 24 gB allocated to Adobe. Track camera literally still worked last week, now it stopped. Rolling back doesn't help.

Hi All,

Sorry to hear about the issue.

Do you mind sharing the following details:

  • What are the details of the footage (frame rate, frame size, format/codec)?
  • Does it happen with all the footage or a particular one?
  • What's the exact version of the OS?

We're here to help, just need more info.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi Nishu, thanks for taking the time.

The issue is present on Apple ProRes 422 1920x1080 Quicktime video, but just as well on X-AVC100 1920x1080 10-bits MXF. Tried with some more footage, but it keeps happening on every format. In fact, AE cannot even start analyzing a track, because it starts trying to link to the dynamic server for whatever reason, and doesn't find it.

I DID find out that this does NOT happen on Windows 11, my laptop runs on that and that is my workaround for now. However, on my workstation (which I cannot upgrade to Windows 11 yet) the problem persists whatever I do.

My exact Windows version is Edition Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H2 OS build 19044.2364
Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0.

I hope this information means anything to you.

Hi Nishu,

Any luck on this issue yet? Meanwhile I tracked another piece of footage on my laptop, where everything is working fine, but on my desktop it still isn't working. Could it be because my desktop connects through a company network with thousands of firewalls? I saw in windows task manager a certain adobe analysis server is called upon?

Hey Nishu,

I have tested the Camera Tracker on Pro Res 444, DNxHD HQX 10-bit and a rendered PNG Seq, all at 1920 x1080, and tried 25fps, 23.976 and 30fps. Issue still persists. One of the shots I tested was working just fine a week prior to my inital comms regarding the issue. This is costing me time and financially blowing out budgets. I have a number of projects lined up for the start of the year.

For everyone here experiencing this issue, it has NOTHING to do with footage or codecs or fast pc's or whatsoever. The Dynamic Link manager simply WON'T connect to, among other, the Adobe Analysis server. It's a NETWORK and therefore probably Windows (or MacOS) vs. Adobe fault.

I tried every possible way like reinstalling, different types of footage, houndrets of different settings, multiple cache disk purges, memory settings etc - always same result.

I'm also having the same problem on Windows and OS X
AE 2022 (v22.6)
AE 20223 (v23.1)
AE Beta (23.3)

That's 6 different installs and none work.  Absolute catastrof**k.

We are still, still, still waiting for a solution. This unable to obtain thing has been looked upon by several Adobe specialists, I believe, but there is no solution yet! I updated AE today hoping desperately something would have been done about this issue but STILL NOTHING.

Please, please, please, help us.

I keep reinstall different versions of ae and other apps and still same issue, no matter the footage or codecs or cache, hard drive free space or whatever. Still can't track the camera, can't stabilize the footage - please solve this issue. We're all paying for this...

There is no excuse for not being able to work if an update killed a feature you need. All you have to do is open the Creative Cloud app, go to the Apps page, find After Effects, click on the three dots just to the right of the Open button, and roll back to a version that works. I do that every time an update causes a problem with any Adobe app and I never lose more than a few minutes while the app updates. I also always keep a previous version of After Effects loaded on my computer.

Broken workflows on updates are not limited to Adobe products. Even way more expensive apps occasionally foul up on some systems when they are updated. Fortunately Adobe makes it easy to roll back to a working version.

Hi Rick, I realized this and installed several older versions, going back as far as 22.0, but this did NOT, I repeat, NOT solve the problem. I don't see any versions yet older than 22.0, so I am out of solutions.

I know it worked before, certainly on 22.0, but obviously the 23 install changed more than just an AE version itself.

@Rick Gerard I tried this many times - it does not solve this issue! It doesn't matter the version of ae.

@Rick Gerard @nishu_kush If you are all still alive and kicking, please respond, over...

I upgraded my Windows version to 11 today, hoping this would be a game changer in this tormenting 'unable-to-connect-to-dynamic-link-server-issue, but ofcourse, no luck yet again.

I started observing my resources during an AE Track Camera attempt, and this is what happens:

I have 24 of 32 Gb allocated to AE. I create a new project, import some footage (any codec, any format, up to 1 Gb in size) and drag this to the 'new comp'-icon for it to create a fitting comp. and then I press 'Track Camera'.

My memory usage, at about 1.2 Gb when I start, now rockets up to 24 Gb in a few seconds, so my memory is simply overloaded with thin air. After that, it gives the error 'unable...dynamiclink etc.'

The Adobe After Effects 2023 process is doubled for a few seconds, Adobe Analysis Server pops in, 6 instances of Adobe CEP HTML Engine (what for?), two instances of Adobe DVA 2023 and ofcourse the Adobe Dynamic Link

manager 2023. Awhole bunch of processes, but none of them demanding more than 8 MB. So what is demanding 24 GB? Is something looping into memory?

Wow. That's interesting! I also noticed that if I want to stabilize camera I get the same dynamic link error. I tested everyother ae "effetct" and it seems it only fails on 3d camera tracking and stabilizing.

Agree, sadly. Have rolled back to repvious versions and error still persists. Installed the latest Beta of Ae out of curiousity, error still persisted however prior to getting the dynamic link error I got a message Adobe Analysis Degug Event > Debug Assert Failed! Screen shots attached. Happy to upload error log file [after enabling logging in the help menu]. 2 months later without a working solve! Camera Tracker and Warp stabilizer promote the same error. Screen Shots attached. @nishu_kush

Quick update "Success"! So after some consideration, I opted to perform a clean install of the OSX on my iMAC... Reinstalling Ae hereafter did not fix the issue, however, delving further and looking into the updated OSX [Ventura13.2.1] it seems allowing full disk access [under privacy and security] to Adobe Creative Cloud app and for good measure Ae I can report that the camera tracker and warp stablizer are now working. I am running the latest version of Ae on both Mac and PC. This wasn't an issue on my windows machine. Keen to hear if this helps those listed here.

borgNZ, that is amazingly interesting, even though you had no issues on pc. I am pretty sure it’s got everything to do with rights and access and safety and so on. I’m going to try the pc sort of equivalent thing you did with your Mac.
And then hope to get back.
