P: Can't import astrophotography photos with my S23 Ultra to Lightroom(mobile)

I have been using Expert Raw on my new S23 Ultra and transfered several raw pictures to Lightroom(mobile) and edited them there.

But for some reason it wont accept astrophotography photos.

They are also in raw file and not even that big of a file.

A few was taken with the main 1x camera and a few in 3x camera.

But when i try to import them to lightroom i get the message "Failed to import 1 photo"

I asked in other forums for Samsung phones but doesn't seem other people have the same problem.

Any ideas?

I am sorry to hear about your problem.

Are you able to provide a sample file for us to evaluate?

Hi Rikk

The picture format is in DNG and it's not supported here.

Do you have a way i can send this to you or upload it somehow?

You can post in a shared Creative Cloud folder, Dropbox, or similar and share a link to the file.

I also am unable to import this file.
I will confer with the Camera Raw team and see if there is something unusual about the file that renders it unreadable. Support was just added last week for this device (S23) and it may be there is something unusual about the Astro-photo process.

Please stand by.

There's no preview of any raw image taken in the expert raw app. But the expert raw app is the one advertised as having support, and is the app with the direct link to Lightroom, so to not work is a pretty big deal!

Can you tell me which lens was used to capture the sample file you've provided?

The sample was taken with the x3 tele lens.

But i had pictures with the main x1 lens aswell with the same problem.

The picture was taken with the Expert Raw camera app and with 10 min exposure time.

I also had the High efficiency Raw toggle on in settings but im not sure that matters as i had pictures also working to import to lightroom with it on.

I just checked and I can confirm that expert raw works when the High Efficiency toggle is turned off.

You can edit photos in DNG format directly after shooting. Make a photo, after the photo open it by tapping on preview image and after that you will see the LR icon. It will work.

If you will open it after that, it will not work. Problem is in an Lightroom app.

Hi,

I've just find a soulution!

Simply disabling "high efficiency RAW" in settings did the trick, now my DNG astrophotos can be opened seamlessly on Lightroom mobile.

Turn off the high efficiency option for now. Smaller file size isn't
critical to have.
