Embedding video within an email campaign

New Here ,
Nov 05, 2014 Nov 05, 2014

Has anyone had any luck embedding video for a newsletter campaign? I have a client who is transitioning over from Constant Contact where they made the process very easy. I understand the associated issues with doing this on some email clients but that does not change what my client wants.

Thanks,

Rob

You cant.

Emails are not the web and will never handle flash, scripting, videos etc.

Other platforms will not do this either because its not a system feature, it is to do with how emails work.

What you can do is have an image which links to a video on the web/page with video so people an view that.

The ratio of what works and does not work is dependent on time, OS, software and device David. Note the post made and response was back in 2014. It is now 2020.

And in that time out of the common email clients both on desktop and mobile, lets say 20 including IOS, Android Mac and PC... Only 5 of those support the feature, 14 with fallback and only 5 of those an acceptable fallback.

If your running email campaigns and the goal is deliverability and turn over of those email campaigns and a good open rate and trying to get what you want across ASAP with people increasingly not wanting grey email or it going into sub folders automatically like on gmail.... Spending time putting video's in emails for the low rate of use is still simply not worth it.
