How do I set up Mac Mail properly?

I have gone through all of the set up steps and set up the POP account as per the directions. I cannot send an email with the settings and so have to use the Gmail outgoing mail server. Therefore my clients and customers reply to my gmail and not my business email.

It's all done, went in to the BC tutorial and the settings have been updated Mac Mail on Yosemite fixed it up with the port numbers and the mail.b.hostedemail.com smtp server.
