How to create a portfolio module

Contributor ,

Hi Guy

I am trying to build a site like this:

http://www.blend-it.co.il/

I can't find any module in BC that will enable me to add an thumbnail image, description, title and link to a full detailed page. I can use the Blog module but it's a bit limited I think.

Another option is to create a custom web App which works great but it's only available in the e-commerce package which is to expensive for my client (I really don't get why this module is not in the lower packages).

Any ideas/ samples how to achieve this in BC (don't worry about the JS effects).

Cheers

Micha

Hi Micha,

I don't have an answer for you outside of using web apps or manually coding it. I agree with you that web apps should be available at the very least in the webMarketing plan even if they limited it to 3 or so web apps (give us something!!) Its silly to have to go to the eCommerce package just to get use of the web apps, not all sites need eCommerce.

Hmmm....Wordpress is looking pretty impressive right now... how many portfolio widgets or themes do you think are freely available through Wordpress? Probably too many to count. How many web apps available to BC users paying $22 a month... ZERO!

If I would use WP I would need to charge per hour which will eventually cost more to the client then using BC. WP is great but I won't risk my client base on something that is open source and not backed-up by a major player such as Adobe.
