Will Github's Atom text editor (https://atom.io/) work ok for editing individual html/css/js files?

Do you just add /dw to any text editor to make it compatible with BC?

That /dw thing is for Dreamweaver only,

For any other code editor you need SFTP, keep to the BC folder structure for its core folders like Templates, _System and so on and just code.

Who marks these answers as correct? If it is correct, why does the BC documentation say otherwise? See here and here.

First link needs a better title separator but the /dw ONLY refers to Dreamweaver - dw is DW - Dreamweaver.

You need to listen to me and trust me.

I use Coda 2. I DO Not in any shape or form put /dw in any of the sites I develop on with BC.

Filezilla does not need it and countless other code editors and SFTP programs.

Have you even tried to connect?

You just need the site url, the username is as noted with siteurl/username

There are a lot of developers connecting as stated.

The second link is exactly the same as the first.

BC staff check and mark posts answered or not daily, and I am correct. One the developers I manage uses Atom on PC and a SFTP plugin.. Again does not do /dw to develop on BC sites.

A rather rude and credibility losing response, especially this line:

"You need to listen to me and trust me."

One does not demand trust, one earns it.

FYI, the two links i provided were to DIFFERENT anchors on the same page, they are not exactly the same. Apparently, you weren't paying attention to detail (relates to how one earns trust in this environment).

Based on the fact that i know nothing about you versus the facts that Adobe and BC are reputable vendors to whom I am paying $ for their products, I, as would most people, accept what their web pages say as authoritative.

Consequently, while you may be technically correct, my question regarding why BC's OFFICIAL PRODUCT DOCUMENTATION contradicts your assertion remains legitimate. And, again, in my experience, very few people have earned the right to claim their answer to any question is correct (especially when it contradicts the recognized authority) merely be saying, "It's right because I said so."

FYI - b/c of the BC documentation, and prior to this "conversation", I created my logins to BC's SFTP server via WinSCP, Filezilla, and Atom using /dw suffix and have had no problems with them. Apparently, it really doesn't matter whether one does or doesn't include it, but that's just my experience.

- Links ARE to the same page, you said were not, same elemental points.

- An Adobe ACP/MVP is a credited professional/most valued professional and I been using BC a long time and I run a team of developers.

I have staff using Atom on BC, I know other developers using it, I use it now and again at a pinch when on my home PC (I develop on mac) through BC.

Honestly, on here to help you but if your going to attack people like myself on here going forward, not bother even trying it for yourself (It is free software, small download, would take 15 minutes tops) you will not get any response and not get anything done.

Tried to help you, but unfortunately you are just showing people that your going to bite their head off if they try help you in the future. Which is a shame.

Once again, you ignored what I wrote. See last line in #4 above noting my experience before this delightful encounter.

Point in regard to the abuse I got before you got there to confirm what I was saying. My comments still stand.

- In here you asked for advice.

- Someone gave it to you

- You did not try it and you just questioned that person and gave them abuse for helping you

- You continued that line when in fact that person was helping you and correct

- They were correct, but no thank you and just a bit more abuse.

Please come in with a better attitude when you next need help, there is honestly no need for any of what you did here.
