Canonical URLs for Products?

What is the best way to handle Canonical URLs for products?

The easiest way would be to use a template to apply it for those pages but what tags/module should I use for a template that will render the URL?

Wait, as BC are working on the feature and hopefully out soon.

If you can not wait then use custom field and the canonical tag in the large product layout and manually paste the url of the url you want as the primary.
