P: Lumix S1RII underexposed 12 bit Raw files

Community Beginner ,

Right now the 12 bit raw files of the Lumix S1RII are about 2 stops underexposed. I was hoping that with the latest Camera Raw update 17.3 a full support would be added, but it seems like it didn't happen. Will this support come in the near future? Attached is a comparision of Capture One and Lightrom, both adjusted to almost same exposure. C1 i had to increase by .5 while I had to bump up the exposure in Lightroon by 2.5, resulting in a higher noise. Shooting in 14 bit, Raw files are correctly exposed. but higher burst rates are only achieved by 12 bit.

Thank you for the file. I've opened a ticket with the Camera Raw team to investigate.

Greetings,

Could you provide a sample raw file that exhibits the issue for the engineering team to review?

Bonjour

Merci

I've moved your post from Creative cloud desktop to the Adobe Lightroom forum. Instead of "last update", what version of Lightroom are you using?

Are you applying a Develop preset at import?

Are you using the camera's built-in highlight adjustment method?

Some cameras allow you to adjust only the highlights of the image. I do not know what the term is that Panasonic uses, but this can cause underexposure in LrC. For Nikon cameras, the term is D-Lighting.

Hi, I just got myself a Lumix S1RII and can confirm that this is reproducible.

When shooting in Burst mode, raw files are interpreted as very underexposed in Lightroom 8.3.1. Only Burst mode raw files are impacted.

Steps to reproduce:

On Lumix S1RII camera, set it to capture RAW + JPEG, and Burst Mode.

Shoot a few frames.

Switch to Single Shot mode and shoot a frame.

Open the files in Lightroom.

The JPEGs, and the RAW from the single shot are perfectly exposed.

All the RAW files specifically from Burst mode are underexposed, and should not be. The corresponding JPG files are perfectly exposed.

See screenshot - you will see that the RAW files (only from Burst mode) are interpreted as underexposed:

Raw file from Burst mode - see the histogram where everything is pushed to the left

Screenshot 2025-05-26 at 7.18.24 AM.png

The same capture from the camera in JPG is handled normally.

Screenshot 2025-05-26 at 7.18.30 AM.pngRaw from Single Shot mode is also handled normally.

I hope a fix can come for this soon.

Thank you for your attention.

Leo
