ACR 12.3 Crop Tool – Lock image position when cropping

When using the crop tool in ACR 12.3, the underlying image moves around the canvas when the crop size is adjusted. This is very disorienting, and can cause the image to jump from one position on the screen to another when changing the orientation of the crop.

Is there a way to lock the image so that it doesn’t move when adjusting the crop?

If you hold down the Alt/Option key the underlying image doesn't move but the behavior is to constrain the ratio.

Otherwise AFAIK, no; this is the new behavior of the crop tool.

Thanks for the heads up on the Alt/Option key when cropping,  would you be able to explain that behaviour a bit more, because it does not seem to lock the ratio but does stop the image moving- the crop becomes locked to either mirror top+bottom or both sides, but locked to a central point?    Is that what you would expect?
