ACR ignores PS's user set RAM limit

Good evening,

I deliberately tried to max out the RAM usage working in ACR 13.1 on a .NEF raw file by moving almost every slider there is, I have Photoshop's RAM limit set to 7.4GB in the Performance tab in the settings but apprently that doesn't mean anything, CameraRaw will just keep eating more and more RAM until I either have no live preview anymore or the whole thing crashes.

Is there a way to fix this? I wouldn't want to have to keep watching over my shoulder for how much RAM usage PS is using everytime I'm working on something and risk losing everything.

Using:
Adobe Photoshop CC 2018
Adobe CameraRaw 13.1
AMD Ryzen 5 3500U 4c/8t (laptop)
16GB of RAM (effectively 14GB since the iGPU allocates 2GB for itself)

PS has 24GB of cache allowed on an NVME SSD.
(I also noticed that PS (ACR) uses all the iGPU's allocated RAM (2GB) and all 7GB of the virual VRAM)

Thank you.
