Camera Raw Freezes Photoshop 24.0.1

Running M1 Mini, lots of disk space, all apps up-to-date, etc etc. Since updating to PS24.0.1, Camera Raw will freeze PS, making me do a "Force Quit" and losing my work. Happens every time.

I've re-installed Camera Raw and Creative Cloud, but no change.

While using the ACR app, it's sluggish and unresponsive.

I don't expect a slution here, but please fix this bug.

Thanks

Try resetting the Camera Raw preferences:
Hold down the Command key and select Photoshop > Preferences > Camera Raw (macOS) or hold down the Ctrl key and select Edit > Preferences > Camera Raw (Windows).
Click Yes in the dialog that asks "Delete the Camera Raw Preferences?"

That worked, thanks, but now Photoshop won't shut down when I quit.

I just get the color wheel until I have to force quit.

PS - this reset of ACR preferences also worked last time, but after a few times using PS, it went back to freezing in Camera Raw.

OK, now reset PSs preferences.

Option/Command/Shift on launch. Better?

It's better, thanks.

But I have t re-install a few plug-ins and re-organize the workspace. A minor inconvenience, but one which I've had to do twice because of this glitch.

Thank you

It's been about a week, and the issue is back.

I won't reset everything again just yet, it's a pain to do.

I'm gonna hope that this gets sorted uot by Adobe with an update.

You need to ask yourself why your preferences are getting corrupted regularly!

I did ask myself that, but I couldn't find an answer.

I'm not doing anything different now than I was a month ago or a year ago.

Well you may have a drive issue, you might have conflicts with the software products etc.

My M1, no issues (FWIW, I've never had corrupted prefs but it happens).

So you write: Please fix this but you need to conduct the fix on your Mac.

Try logging into another account (you may need to make one), still crashing?
Try starting up in Safe mode (hold down Shift Key when booting), still crashing?
You might want to try running a free utility like Onyx: still crashing?

I will try everything you suggest.

Honestly I just can't figure out why this keeps happening. I don't mind doing the work, but I've tried everything including re-installation of all Adobe products, including the Creative Cloud app. The problem re-surfaced.

This shouldn't be happening on an M1 that has 70% of its HD free.

Thanks for your continued help.

If anything else, after resetting prefs, reconfiguring and confirmation they work, make a backup of them, if the issue comes up again, replace them.

But something is amiss if they keep getting hosed. That is the preferred fix to find.
