latest version of Camera RAW. Raw says unexpected error when trying to slect sky. Raw says cannot load AI model (sic) when trying to select subject.

Doesn't matter whether use GPU is on auto or off.

A likely cause is an out-of-date display driver. The team recommends that you are up to date on your video driver. Typically, you would want to contact your video card manufacturer for the latest driver as the drivers installing via Windows update tend to be several versions old.

Do you see the the error after updating your driver?

Thanks for replying.

I don't think it's the driver - I have an onboard intel 520 graphics driver which is up to date. I'm guessing RAW just doesn't work well with slightly older laptops.

Not too much of a problem as select subject and select sky work fine with Photoshop, just not in Camera RAW.

Thanks anyway.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd love to help you fix this.

We can reset the GPU-related info Camera Raw has saved if you have the updated GPU drivers.

Go to the following location

  • C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw
  • Rename the GPU folder as 'GPU.old' (add .old at the end)
  • Restart Photoshop and Camera Raw again.

Let us know if this helps,

Thanks!

Sadly resetting gpu didn't help.

But I've noticed in Photoshop 2021 selections work fine.

In Photoshop 2022 select subject for the menu bar works but using the object selector tool icon to select or refine fails with an error message.

I'm often use 2021 because shake reduction filter is very useful.

cheers
