Camera Raw release 15.0 lag time

Experiencing lag times in Camera Raw when entering and exiting. Usually about 2-3 seconds. Only started happening after the latest updates to PS (24) and CR (15).

Running a MacBook Pro 16 with Monterey 12.6.1 M1 Max chip and 64GB RAM.

Don't see why I should be having performance issues. Again, started occuring after the latest updates.

Any suggestions?

Try resetting your ACR preferences, better?
Hold down the Command key and select Photoshop > Preferences > Camera Raw (MacOS) or hold down the Ctrl key and select Edit > Preferences > Camera Raw (Windows).
Click Yes in the dialog that asks "Delete the Camera Raw Preferences?"

It worked for a short time and now it's causing the same lag time even after resetting ACR preferences. Updated to 24.0.1

Something else running is interfering here. Try logging into another user account (you may need to make one); still lagging?
Try starting up in Safe mode (hold down Shift Key when booting), still lagging?
You might want to try running a free utility like Onyx: still lagging?

I am experiencing lag time, as well, when entering and exiting from Photoshop. That is with 2022, 2023, and Beta. It seems slightly better with the 24.0.1 and 23.5.3 updates, but, there is definitely a marked lag that was not there.

I've deleted CR and Photoshop preferences. I'm on an iMac, with OS 12.6.

Thanks, in advance, for checking into it.

To anyone still experiencing lagging when entering and exiting, from Photoshop -- I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop, which, so far (it's been less than 24 hrs.), seems to have eliminated the lag. I chose the option to keep my preferences and settings, when prompted, from the Creative Cloud app, so, I didn't have to rebuild my preferences. I, then, restarted my computer (iMac 27-inch). And, so far, the lag seems to have stopped.

I am using PS 23.5.3, 24.1, and beta 24.2. All of which were experiencing the lag to and from ACR. Doing the above worked on all PS versions.

I had high hopes for your fix, but alas no luck. Using PS 24.1.0.

Question: Did you also uninstall CR? This is frustrating to say the least. Guess the intern was messing with code again.🤷🏻‍:female_sign:

I did not uninstall CR. However, I do not see how one would do that. There is not an option, in the Creative Cloud app. If so, I would have also reverted to an earlier version. You probably saw, in my post, but, I had to restart my computer after reinstalling Photoshop. Otherwise, the lag was still there. I'm sorry it didn't work, for you. There's no guarantee this is a long fix, for me, but, I'm crossing my fingers.

Adobe Camera Raw can be uninstalled manually or by uninstalling Photoshop using Adobe Creative Cloud.

The Mac path for Adobe Camera Raw is:

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CC/File Formats

I've found the lag is worse when using my Wacom stylus and tablet (Intuos Pro M). I've deleted and reinstalled drivers. I've had the same experience with a different user account on the same computer. Using the mouse, the lag is minimal, for me. Using the pen and tablet, the lag is most prevalent.

Ugh. Don't why I didn't test the stylus. Yes, major lag time with my Wacom tablet and NO lag time with the Apple mouse.

So much conflicts with today's technology. I will not go back to the mouse.

Thanks for your input. Guess it's a Wacom issue now. Ugh, again.

Hu Guys,

Try this. >Photoshop>Setting>Camera Raw>Performance>Turn off "Use Graphic Processor".

The lagging is gone. It works for me.

Disabling the Graphics Processor has worked, well, so far. However, it looks like Camera Raw will soon require the GPU to process images. I keep getting a warning dialog telling me so. That means I'm going to have to turn it back on. That would also seem to mean back to the delay, soon. Here's hoping folks from Adobe are seeing and adressing this.

Yeah, I saw that and now I'm scared. Ugh. Hoping they fix the issue we're having. I tried turning on the GPU and still having the same issue.

By @Anne Sakutori

If turning OFF the GPU works, it's a GPU bug, and you need to contact the manufacturer or find out if there's an updated driver for it. This is why disabling GPU is an option as more and more functionality moves to the GPU in newer versions of many Adobe products.

Disable third-party graphics accelerators. Third-party GPU overclocking utilities and haxies aren't supported.
