DNG converter gives 'unsupported raw' with CR2+JPEG (embedded preview) from EOS1000D

Hi,

Back to working with RAW and wanting to convert CR2 to DNG.

Downloaded and installed the laster DNG convertor 13.2.0.738 on Windows 10 64bit.

I have noticed that if I set my camera to RAW+JPEG then the converter is unable to process CR2 file and gives "The file appears to be an unsupported raw format". If I use just RAW on the camera, converter is able to process.

RawTherapee is able to open both image file types.

Any suggestions, or links where I can find/try an older version of the convertor? Thanks,
Simon.

Found this thread with a similar problem...

This appears to be with the way that Windows handles the camera plugged into USB. The file size of the CR2 file is not shown as correct and when copied to the local drive it is then corrupt.

Using a Linux PC, I was able to see the CR2 with it's true size (~9.5MByte) and copy this to disk first, and then transfer to Windows. After this action DNG convertor was able to handle the file.

Solved!

Simon.

Not on Windows but indeed, the DNG converter can't deal (open or convert) a JPEG so it seems when you 'point' to a folder with each, it may pop such an error.

Yet another disadvantage of raw+JPEG (if you want to go there).
