Greetings fellow artists! I could not find the way to do this using the search, so I apologize if this is asked often. I have this highly agitating program called Camera Raw that pops up whenever I open AVIF images and I have to do a lot of automated batch work for these files. I must have disabled it before, because this was not happening before I wiped my Windows hard drive and did a fresh Windows 11 install. And, I usually never download a new verison of photoshop every year, so this must have got on here since my last one.
Well, actually, I realized my reasons and such are completely irrelevant to the question! lol Basically, I want to either completely remove this weird Camera Raw thing, or else, disable it entriely since in 25 years of using photoshop, I never used it even once. So, please let me know how to do it? I did go into the preferences, and diabled the JPG and TIFF I think it was settings, but I want to make sure this Camera Raw never ever opens again lol
Oh holy cow, I figured it out by doing a search in Windows. It foudn the Camera Raw file here:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi
So I deleted it, and now I can use automate and batch again without it interrupting every one of the 1200 or so pictiures! Perfect! So, if you ever need to get ride of Camera Raw, just go there on your computer and you can fix it. I am surprised there is not just a check box somewhere to disable it. lol Ok, hopefully this he

Aaand this is terrible advice, if you did even minimal research you would see that Camera RAW is Adobe's processor for RAW file formats, and it also handles some things like HDR output to those very AVIF files you talk about.
Anyone reading this, DO NOT DELETE THE ACR PLUGIN.

Nope, it's working like a charm still even after almost 3 months, though sometimes I have to delete the annoying Camera Raw file again so I can do my work properly.

You can bypass the Camera Raw dialog when opening files by holding down the Shift key while you open the file.
