Hi! Recently updated my Photoshop and Camera Raw. When I went to open it, it says "Camera Raw requires graphics processor acceleration to edit photos". I've been trying to go in to settings and check, but everything looks like it should (to my knowledge). What can I do to make it work, anyone with the same problem?
I have a Macbook Pro with an M1 graphics card.
Thansk Rikk,
very much appreciate it, that fixed my issue. I had scoured that page for "reset the GPU" to no avail. I had also ignored the section you pasted because it that section is for "(If you're using Camera Raw version 11.3 or earlier) Force Camera Raw to use Windows DirectX or macOS Metal." and that does not apply to CR 16, nor in my mind did Metal have anyting to do with this. 🤷🏻:male_sign:
For everyone else having this issue, I would also suggest looking for a file in that folder (
...Wow, that works for me thank you

Got the same issue as well. Based on lack of response I'm pretty sure that Adobe has crossed it off the list.

See: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/acr-gpu-faq.html#photo-editing
It was published earlier this year.
If you have a GPU and are still seeing this message you might want to go through the rest of the troubleshooting article.

Hi Rikk, based on the article CR should do basic things when GPU is turned off, true? I request Filter/CameraRaw and Photoshop locks up with GPU turned off. Does this indicate anything specific?
I do not get a specific error message. Just locks up PS.
I have deleted folders as suggested. I have tried PS 26, 25, & 24. All fail at exactly the same spot.
I have updated GP (Intel 620). Tried older drivers. I can't find anything in this forum I haven't tried.
Any suggestion would be most appreciated.

Hey Rikk,
There are an aweful lot of us with apple silcone that had working camera raw before 16 and now we are getting this message in camera raw and no go. Oddly photoshop shows that it sees the GPU and Lightroom classic works... Please tell us how to reset the GPU instead of "..." if you believe that this is the fix. We are dead in the water...

The instructions are in the Help document on my previous post...
Posted again for your convenience: See: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/acr-gpu-faq.html#photo-editing
See @DavidLloydImageworks next post for instructions on what worked for him.
" I would also suggest looking for a file in that folder (/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/GPU/Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw/): TempDisableGPU2 or TempDisableGPU3 and delete if either are present."
I hope that helps.

Yeah, I grabbed the wrong section. I've added your suggestion to my edited post so people can find it easier. I am glad you are running again.

With risk of sounding like an idiot - I can't even find a folder like that on Mac, searched and everything. Like I don't even have a library folder/section 😅

Certainly not an idiot. If you have never delved deep into the system, you wouldn't know it's there as it's hidden to prevent accidental changes that would be disasterous.
here is a basic intro to accessing the Library folder: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html#:~:text=In%20the%20....

Thanks, this solved my newly installation on my new computer. On a PC the path is:
C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\GPU\Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw

Hi iGudi, I tried the path you suggest and it leads to a Text document 'Camera Raw GPU config'.
Did you just delete the document? Or was there something else involved? I haven't deleted the document yet.
Thanks
