xmp files not saving to original file location

Hello -

Previously when I open a raw file to edit in PS, camera raw would save the xmp file in the same drive & folder where the raw file I am altering is located (D drive). But now it automatically saves the xmp PLUS a copy of the raw file to a completely different drive (C) under in the pictures folder. I cannot figure out how switch it so they automatically save to same drive & folder as the original raw image. I don't want to have to move the xmp files plus delete the raw copy with edit. Any insight??

What is your workflow here (give us your EXACT steps.) Have you clicked the Save icon (upper right corner) and changed the default save location?
