Adding a Jeopardy widget to Captivate 8 (trial version) blank slide

Guest

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to add the Jeopardy interactive widget to a blank slide in Captivate 8 (trial version). However, it is impossible to navigate out of the "Configure interaction" dialogue box, so that the game then appears on the slide. In other words, there are no "Ok" or "Cancel" buttons displaying at the bottom of this dialogue box, resulting in one's being "trapped" there. The only way out is to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close all my computer windows and then reboot! (And needless to say - no Jeopardy game can be in my project.)

Other widgets (e.g. Hangman) do display those buttons for easy navigation into the slide.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Thanks,

Susan

This is what you should see.

Can you post a screenshot showing what your dialog looks like?

Hi Rod,

O.k., I've taken the screenshot and saved in both Word and PDF; neither file type is allowed to be uploaded here. Which types are, and I will re-save and post it ASAP.

Thanks,

Susan

Hi again Rod,

Just FYI, I am new to Captivate, and new to this forum.

You can only insert an image, not attach word or other files. To insert an image use the camera icon in the browser version of the forum.

Thanks, Lilybiri!

Here it is - as you can see, the box kind of "cuts off" at the top. At the bottom, where the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons should appear below the red arrow, the box appears to "end", and although it can be moved around by dragging from the top, I can't re-size it to be smaller altogether, and maybe show those buttons....

You seem to have a low resolution screen. This is indeed a huge dialog box (can never be resized in any application),  just looked and it is over 800px in the height. Is it not possible to use a resolution that is better at all? You could auto-hide the task bar, but it looks like you have only a height of about 800px or even less.

Hmm, I had a look and it was set to 1280 x 720 (I'm using a 19" external monitor). Now that I've switched it to 1024 x 768, the buttons are visible, enabling insertion of the game board, but the resolution "feeling" overall (in any program, and especially the text) is kind of "stretched out" now and a bit hard on the eyes. Guess one can't have it both ways!! Thanks for your suggestion; I do appreciate it! Susan E. Webb Adult ESL Instructor, Toronto District School BoardWorkplace skills

Don't use a 4:3 ratio for a 16:9 monitor. I asked if you couldn't use a higher resolution, not a lower.

Sorry, I misunderstood. The highest possible setting, according to the Control Panel - Display - Resolution, is 1280 x 720. Might there be a way to go higher than that? Susan E. Webb Adult ESL Instructor, Toronto District School BoardWorkplace skills

No, that means that the graphics card is limited to that highest resolution (or not set up well).  It is a bit strange, because you have one set to 768 height, which seems sufficient to see the dialog box (I measured it to be even higher). Of course, it will distorted because it has another width/height ratio then your monitor.

I might add that the external monitor was added after my 16" laptop screen conked out (to save buying a new laptop). The Display box shows "1|2 Multiple Monitors" (and Landscape orientation) with no other option in the drop-down list; maybe this is causing the problem? Susan E.
