I have the most up to date Captivate, 11.5.1.499, once I bring in an SVG item or use on from assets. When I double click the SVG to do the edits, the SVG morphs to white. I'm using Windows 10. I've read through several blogs and community post and none of the "resolutions" resolve my issue or the resolution is for a previous update.

Please insist. Click again and the paths will appear to allow you to change
the fill color.

Thank you Lilybiri. I've tried clicking one more time after the double click and still a blank white space. I've tried the one-click wait and then another with the same issue.

What does the Fill icon show in the Properties panel? The Icon assets of the Assets panel are simple closed paths. Up till now I didn't have any issues editing their Fill. But indeed, sometimes the double click shows a blank rectangle, clicking again makes paths visible and selectable. Do you zoom in on the SVG?

The Fill Icon displays with the dithered background and red line through when the "edit" of SVG is done, just like in a regular view. The only difference for the fill icon is that it does not give the prompt for "double click to edit" when hovering over the fill. I was not zooming in or out, just on the basic view setting. I did try zooming before replying to you and I still have the same issue.
Thank you for your help!

I'd also like to state that I'm using the Adobe Captivate Specialist training program for certification when pulling the SVG. I've tried with a few other items, but I'd really like this to work before I attend the workshop in April.

Ask me in Aptril?
As long as you don't see another content in the Fill field, you are not in Edit mode for the SVG.
Have a look at:

I am having the same issue and am also taking the Specialist program.

I had the same problem and I was also having issues with my firewall preventing me from accessing the Assets Library. Once I got that fixed, it seemed to fix the SVG problem! I'm not sure if/how those are connected, but you might want to check to see if you have a firewall preventing you from being able to do this!

And you know, I even tried turning my firewall completely off. Nothing changed, or acted any better.

So now *I* am having this exact same problem, and also taking the specialist program (so that's where the instructions to double-click the svg to change colors. My fill is also the greyish background with red line from bottom-left to upper-right. I also had the (firewall?)/Assets Not Loading issue, so already did the https://community.adobe.com/t5/captivate/the-asset-panel-does-not-load-in-captivate-2019-release/m-p... instructions. Fixed the Assets problem, but two days later, there's this (same) .svg issue.
Could it be the .svg file supplied for the Speicalist program be funky for some reason? [UPDATE: NOPE! - because the next exercise has you insert an ICON from the Assets library. And when you click or double-click on the icon to change the color of the icon, the same white(-only) box appears (again). Poo.
[UPDATE 2: I just rotated the icon I inserted manualy, and the outline(s) got all pixelated!

I think you said this before my update (and UPDATE 2).
Because, now It's not just the .svg supplied by the Specialist program assets. But this also happens to Assetts => ICONs that are brought in through the assets panel.Went to assets- clicked on Icon - slected a flashlight - flashlight appears on stage - double-click the icon, and it goes totally WHITE. So it is not just the Specialist's .svg file, but appears to be ANY .svg file bring brought in. 😕

Sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn't. Still not sure what's preventing it - I even did a help ticket with Adobe to identify the issue to no avail. Luckily the exam doesn't make you do any specific actions, but will ask simply how to do something. So if you know that you need to double-click the svg to change the colors, you can answer it correctly if that's an exam question.
Having said that, needing to do it in real life, I still have no answer!
Also as you watch the videos, I highly recommend taking great notes on not only how something is done, but also why. It was super helpful for preparing and taking the exam!

The SVGs need to be simple. You can only edit the solid fill color of a closed path, not the stroke. But often it is better to click the stroke. If the SVG has used Appearance feature to add fills and/or strokes (eventually with effects) , you will only be able to edit the original fill, not the added fills.

Thanks for taking the time to reply , and the little hints. Could you tell me how to best start a "help " ticket with adobe? I know they have the captivate email (somewhere) or do they have something in the so-called "elearning community" - that no one seems to use cuz look where are 😉

eLearning community used to be useful, but I just decided yesterday, after contributing a lot and having answered many questions, I give up. Let the staff answer the questions, it is not worthwhle since those who ask questions are not nofitied of answers at all. Moreover moderation only 2-3 times a week in not very user friendly. Here moderation is 24/7.

Welcome back from the Dark Side. That place certainly pales in comparasion to something like http://community.articulate.com. I mean, even if adobe just ripped them off completely it was still have been better than half assing a half-assed Community. I am glad we can still gather here and get actual answers.

Of course - and like you, I did the double-click with the single click after. No luck. I promise you're not crazy! I did the chat feature with them and that's when they got me in touch with the right person: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
Hope that helps! If you find an answer, let us know!

Well at least we can tie those who it works for (see below) 2 for 2! (not to knock em' they are trying really hard to help)
How do you contact Captivate support? or maybe, hows the best way to contact them?

They will probably send you here....
Can you donwload these:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Am5OkjHof0Dgi9Rms7jDWEM22Q3r9Q?e=VvLVMP
It is a zipped folder (onedrive link) with two versions of the Document icon in grey.
Without: has no stroke
Stroked has a grey stroke of 0.25p
Want to know if these are working for you. I used the original icon but re-exported them with Illustrator? Both behave better for me when trying to select them to edit fills.

Unfortunately no. I took each svgs our of the zip file. And placed each one onto slide. But again, double-click goes white. Additional single-click does nothing. Clicking away from icon brings the original dark gray icon shape back .

It is a mystery to me. I provided those updated icons, because the original ones were apparently created from the artboard because the surrounding box was bigger than the icon. My versions were limited to the asset itself, and hoped this would work better. In my case I don't even see the white background when using those icons.
Wished I could help you better. Do you not have a direct access to the 'authors' of that training. You spend a lot of time now on a topic which is really not so important. But will not talk more about the contents or the whole training, which I would do completely different so that you can distinguish core aspects from minor workflows. You have to know that I did provide training for adults since decades...

I think the larger issue is not about the SVG files, but rather the fact that Captivate is not responding in the manner it should. When we spend a lot of money on training, we want to ensure fidelity to these exercises and learning the software properly. Additionally, with no conference or additional support materials for the exam, I felt very anxious because I had to wonder if this one exercise wouldn't work for me, what else would impact my learning as I continued the training? And that's concerning when I am trying to pass an exam for my job.
We do not have direct access to the authors of the training, we do not have the day long in-person course to prepare for the exam, and we do not have anything beyond the videos and the exercise files from Adobe. Anything additional needs to be searched for online and asked in these communities. I can understand exactly where Rapha6 is coming from because we truly want to learn Captivate, but are at a disadvantage this year with the extenuating circumstances.
Rapha6, the only advice I can give is to take really great notes from the videos. Try and do the exercises to the best of your ability, but the exam will focus on the how and the why (how do you edit an SVG, why would you do this or that?). Then I would have Captivate open as well as this user manual: https://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/captivate_reference.pdf. Finally, Paul Wilson has several great YouTube videos, in particular a couple of live recordings around helping participants feel at ease about the exam. He even provides additional exercise files that they use for the conference which you can download for extra practice. Good luck - you'll do great!

HEY! Are you using WINDOWS? Can you go to your "type here to search" in the left-side of your task bar, and type system information. because that will open your "Sytem Information" window and your "System Summary" where the first two lines give you what you need. Is it HOME? Mine's HOME.
