Dear All,

I am designing a Responsive Project in Captivate 9. I have customized all navigation buttons to control slides. All works fine.

When my slide is at the end of timeline and if i click on Play button, this moves to the next slide. I would like to pause the slide at the end of it. Only when i click on next button, it should move to the next slide. Could you please help me in this

If this is to happen on each slide, this may be the quickest work flow:

  • Go to the main master slide
  • Insert a very small shape and check the option 'Use as button'; set alpha = 0 and stroke = 0 so that it is invisible to the user and cannot be clicked (very small and in a weird location, don't pull it out of the stage)
  • Check in the Options tab of its Properties that 'Pause project until user clicks' is checked.

What is great about this solution: the pausing point of the shape button will always be at the end of each slide, using that master slide, whatever its duration. Be careful: some daughter master slides in the included themes do not have the main master slide objects. That is the case for the Title master slide. Insert a copy of that shape button on that master slide as well.

I tried with that. This works similar to next button which also pause the slide at the end. My problem is, once the slide is paused at the end, If i click on Play button, slide automatically moves to the next slide. Can I control that? like disabling Play button etc. It would be a great help, if u give me solution on this

Why do you have a Next button AND a playbar, I don't understand that type of setup. Must have misunderstood.

I thought you wanted to pause each slide at its end, that is what the described work flows is doing. What is that Play button?

I am not using inbuilt play bar. I have created shape buttons for play/pause and a next button. This is a client request not to use the inbuilt play bar.

So, here I am facing a issue. At the end of the slide I want to move to next slide only when I click on next button, but here even when I click on play button at the end of the slide, slide advances to next.

As per my observation, even if we use inbuilt play bar, same thing happens.

Is there anyother way to control it. Thanks in advance...

I really don't understand why this is regarded as an issue.Having more than one way to achieve the same result in any software is seldom regarded as a bad thing.

If the slide timeline has reached the end and paused, whether the user clicks on the Next button OR the Play button on the playbar, the result will be the same.  They'll progress to the next slide.

What's the problem?

I do agree......

Not saying this is an issue.. Just trying to find out if there is any alternative method.

If the slide timeline has been paused, the ONLY way it will move again is for the learner to interact with some object on the slide that can execute the Continue or Jump to Slide action.

You currently have two ways to do that available.  What kind of an alternative method would you require?

The only way not to seem to  break a pause by an event is with the 'Delay Next commands...' action which has to be in an advanced action triggered by and event (which can be any event, slide or interactive object linked).
