Advanced actions with 2 "shows" and 2 Apply effects

Hi,

Captivate 9.0.2.437

I have a slide that will have 10 icons in the bg image. I plan to have all 10 icons have a click box sitting over the icons in the bg. Each clickbox will have a highlight box and a text box associated with it. The user should be able to click on each icon, and the highlight box will fade in and the text box will have an "ease in" effect applied.

I have gone ahead and made 2 advanced actions so far for the first two icons click boxes. THe desired outcome is to have the associated highlight box fade in and the associated text box ease in. Both of these effects were incorporated with an advanced action.

Multiple problems:

1. None of the click boxes mentioned above have pauses, but the slide does have a custom next button with a pause. When the pause is met at 3.5 seconds, I can no longer click any of the click boxes.
2. While the slide is still moving (not paused) I can click on the click boxes, but the desired effects are not always working. Ususally a second click is required to see the desired effect. Often when the pause is reached, I can only click on the last click box and the effect only works half way (an ease in only slides in halfway)

How can I get these click boxes to work correctly and not expire when the slide pauses?
