I'm having a similar issue. I have installed the trial version on the Apple machine at work and when I try to run the application it says "Adobe Captivate cannot be opened because of a problem."

I found it defaults to downloading to the Desktop.  I've had similar issue with going from trial to monthly sub.

I wonder if you are perhaps mistaking the fact that installing Captivate can be a two-step process.  The file you download is actually a compressed archive of the installation files which you first have to decompress and it usually decompresses to your desktop.  After that you have to execute the setup falls to perform the actual installation.

Hi Rod,

Thanks for the assistance.  I knew it was a two step process.  Yesterday, I took screen grabs right the way through the install process.  All went well and I launched with the button.  It put the CP icon down on the Task Bar, but as soon as I quit Captivate it disappeared.  That was one issue.  Once I located it under All Programs, I was able to set up a Shortcut and also Pin it to the Task Bar.   So the fact that it was not Pinning could well be happening for others.

Also if you look in the Control Panel for Captivate (e.g. if you wanted to uninstall), the programs used by Captivate including a lot of Microsoft ones are all scattered throughout the Programs folder and only the Captivate exe - a small file, is visible.  I'm not sure how an uninstall would go.  I would have thought that a folder for Captivate would be more efficient, with all the software underneath that.

Both these make it hard to locate.  I had to sort the Program files by Name to find even the Adobe Captivate exe.   And not pinning is just frustrating - because you think it's disappeared and reinstall over and over again.

Which OS are you using? The Captivate installation folder (I'm using both Win 7 and Win10) is a big folder, about 2.76GB. In Public documents the eLearning Assets are installed, another 3.76GB and a small Preferences folder (labeled Captivate 9) in your profile (AppData/Local).
