AICC Not Tracking

New Here ,
Mar 20, 2018 Mar 20, 2018

We have two HTML5 courses that must be published to AICC due to the reseller's LMS.

Both courses work fine on SCORM Cloud; however, they do not track on the reseller's LMS.

When the course is launched from the reseller, it's not marked as "in progress" or "incomplete" and bookmarking does not work.

The courses are straightforward. For course 1, it's setup to complete after all of the slides are viewed.  Course 2 is setup to be completed after a quiz is passed.  When publishing, we select AICC and click publish.

Is there something that we're overlooking?  BTW - the SCORM versions of both courses work fine, but we can't use that option for this reseller...we've asked many times over and they say no.  And, again, we've tested the AICC version on SCORM Cloud and both courses work fine.

At this point, we're stumped.  The reseller is not able to offer any assistance.  So, any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated!

Create two new test modules in Captivate, one set for slide view completion and the other set for quiz pass completion.  These modules would only have a few slides in each.  The quiz module only needs a single True/False quiz question.  Set them up for AICC exactly as your other modules and test them in your vendor's LMS.

If even very simple Captivate modules do not successfully complete, but work fine in SCORM Cloud, then your LMS is toast and you should pull the pin on it unless they start becoming reasonable about offering technical support.

If your simple modules DO work in the LMS, then you need to look deeper at your Captivate modules and try to see what might be tripping up this LMS.  Check the naming of your modules. Make sure they contain no spaces or punctuation marks.

Hey Rod - We went ahead and created 2 basic modules and tested on SCORM Cloud and they worked just fine.  We pushed them over to BizLibrary for testing on their system and neither one worked.  Their tech support saw that they work on the Cloud, but can't offer any insights as to why neither work on their system.  The support guy's only suggestion was to hire his connection to look at the simple courses.

Thanks again for the suggestions. Although we don't have a resolution, doing this proved the issue is not necessarily course-related.

Unfortunately, the real issue here is often that the only LMS people you can get easy access to don't have any real expertise in either their own software or with SCORM.  They will ALWAYS blame the authoring tool, even sometimes AFTER you categorically prove that the issue is with their own LMS.

If you are paying for your LMS via a subscription of some kind, I suggest you try negotiating with them about NOT paying for the monthly fee until they offer better technical assistance when their LMS fails to play perfectly valid SCORM content.

Unless they are using an LMS app that they stole from somewhere, there MUST be someone within their organisation that knows enough about how the thing actually works to tell you WHY it's not accepting Captivate content.  You just have to twist their arm hard enough to find that person and get them on the case.

Thanks for the ideas.  We'll give those a try.
