Asset size preservation issue

New Here ,
Dec 06, 2016 Dec 06, 2016

Good Morning! I have a quick question that I am hoping someone will be able to help me out with. I found the attached interaction in the free eLearning assets, and thought it would be prefect for the current project that I am working on. When I download the interaction it saves to my eLearning assets folder, but I am experiencing difficulty in placing the interaction in to my current project. I tried to copy and past the slide over, but it transfers with distorted sizing, as shown in the second image below. Does anyone have a possible work around for this issue? I appreciate the help!

I don't see any distorition,.  Question about the eLearning interactions should be posted on their website, not on this Captivate forum. Did you check the resolution of the cptx file which you downloaded, It looks like your project has a totally different resolution.

Good question, bmosier01!  I believe I have a solution.  Not sure if it's the ideal route for all Captivate users, but it sounds like you want to copy and paste the interaction into an existing project.  If my understanding of your issue is correct, try this.

1. Open the interaction (cork board) file by itself.

2. Then open your existing file...It should open as a second file located at the top of the page....see my image for reference.

Cork_Board Interaction

3. Now, go back to your existing project, and copy the slide(s) you'd like to include in the Cork Board project file.  (Essentially, try copying/pasting the other way around.  Rather than 'cork board' TO 'existing', try 'existing' TO 'cork board'.

4. Paste the slides into the cork board project.

5. Simply organize the slides, as you see fit, by clicking and dragging them.

It worked for me.  I hope it's fruitful for you as well!

Thanks for this great explanation about copy/paste slides using the MDI of Captivate. However the OP has copied/pasted slides already, the question was about 'distortion' of the pasted slide, which from the screenshot means that the second project has a bigger resolution (size in pixels) than the original project. That is something you could have added to your step-by-step tutorial: first check the resolutions of both projects. Especially when the width/height ratio is not the same, copy/paste could lead to distortion if you accept the automatic rescaling.
