I have a captivate 8 project that I published as an app using phonegap, however the audio that should be triggered by a button does not work. Anyone familiar with a work around this issue?

Thank you!

Hi Lilybiri,

Thank you for  prompt response.

The answer is no. There is a button that toggle the audio. It works fine when I test it on a browser, but not when I use phonegap and test the app on my phone. I wonder if it is the file type. I using mp3 format.

Have you experienced this problem before?

Thank you!

I tried 3 more actions:

  • I created a player using Adobe Edge. It behaves the same way, it plays on the browser but not on the app
  • I published the app as a web app, and the sound plays without any issues.
  • I also tried using a WAV file, but it did not work.

I am considering redoing the app in Dreamweaver, but it would be so much better if I could continue it in Captivate.

Thanks again.

Sorry for late answer. I don't have much experience with apps, clients are not asking for them at this moment.

Do you use the Play Audio command with that button? I am wondering if that is the problem? Just an idea for another way: use an audio object that is initially invisible, and that you make visible with the button. What I mean by an audio object: Audio Objects: Control them! - Captivate blog

Just for the record, I figured out how to make the audio play. On the IPhone settings change the "Portrait Orientation" to on. Your audio will start working like a charm. Now I wonder if this bug will persist once the app is published to the AppStore.
