I am working on a project that needed to be done hours ago. I am at my wit's end.
The sound in the project stops playing on several specific slides. It will restart if I open the TOC or turn Closed Captioning on or off.
I have tried:
- Deleting preferences
- Clearing the cache
- Turning off the TOC
- Resetting closed captioning preferences
- Using a different skin
- Deleting and re-adding the sound files
- Deleting and re-adding affected slides
- Copying all of the slides into a new project
NOTHING has worked. I'm pulling out my hair in frustration. Please help- thanks in advance.

Are there any interactive objects on those slides that might be pausing the playback? Have you checked for any advanced actions that might be triggered On Slide Enter or On Exit that might be executing Pause Playback actions?

Nope- this is a very straightforward, boring presentation- no interactivity, no advanced actions. I'm actually on the phone w/Adobe right now in the hope that they can help solve it...

Only way to stop Slide audio is with the Pause command, whether used as simple command On Enter (look at several slides in the Quick Start Projects) or in an advanced action. Pausing point of an interactive object or a slide (quiz, score, D&D) will not stop slide audio, only when you indiccate it in the slide properties for normal slides (not possible on quiz, score D&D). Have a look at:

How did you cope with AutoPlay being disabled in HTML output? Did you use one of the workarounds posted here, which will sometimes not affect audio...
I didn't see which version you are using as indicated under Help, About Captivate?

There are no commands on any of the slides. This is just straight screen capture and graphics with narration.
I spent an hour on the phone with Adobe last night. The file worked correctly on the tech's computer and on mine after rebooting my computer. This morning, it's not working again, even if I reboot, and isn't working on another computer I tried.
The file DOES work if published as a SWF, so this is some hinky HTML5 issue.

Which version, please? Which browseer did you use for testing? Did you test locally or after uploading to a webserver?

I am using the most recent version on both computers-
Windows- 11.5.1.499
Mac- 11.5.4.613
I used Chrome, Safari and Firefox.
I tested both locally and on SCORMCloud.

I also just tried, as a test, removing the audio from the slide and using an On Enter-Play Audio action instead. The audio still doesn't play.

That is really weird, Play Audio cannot be stopped at all once it has been started...
Is this happening on one project or can you reproduce the problem on other projects?

Only one.

In that case I suspect the project has corrupted... Where is difficult to find. Can you open a new project, same resolution, same theme and copy/paste slides from the first project to it? Check after each pasting if it is still working..
