I am a long-long-long time user (before RoboDemo).
My eLearning has been upgraded over the years from RoboDemo to CP and up to CP2017 and now CP2019. Most of my content is circa 2008 and newer.
I converted all of my courses to HTML5 and that is deployed and running.
I use a GIF preloader at 25%
Auto-Play is OFF and I use images as the background for the PLAY triangle.
I use SCORM 1.2
ALL is fine in CP2017
All projects have clean HTML5 Inspector
Now I am playing with CP2019 and I cannot play any HTML5 output in any of my 128 Lessons.
I get the first slide, I get the play triangle and I press it and it advances to a BLANK page.
That blank page is just a cover page set at 3 seconds with no interactions, no transitions, no additional objects.
I run Preview as HTML5 in Browser and this happens.
I post to my LMS and this happens
Same with Chrome or IE11 or Edge
I hacked a few of these lessons up to get them down to just 2 slides, no video, no playbar, no Skin, Etc.
I disable the preloader and the START background image.
I inserted new blank slides as slides 1 and 2.
Nothing brings it to life.
NEW projects are fine, but that is not going to happen here because the settings, Quiz-Pools, Quiz Numbers, Etc. would be far too great of a chore to shovel over.
I absolutely cannot publish to HTML5 SCORM or HTML5 Preview in Browser with any of my 128 Lessons that make up 14 courses. Bricked!
I can provide a sample to Adobe. This needs a hot-patch now and not in a week.

Upload one of these upgraded SCORMs to SCORM Cloud and test it there. Does it work?

Hi Rod,
This is an upgrade issue. Works perfect in CP2017. I have this stripped-down to 3 slides, no images, not skins, no loader. It is just a bad conversion routine that needs to be fixed by Adobe. As you know, carrying forward older projects is a blessing and at times a curse. I need to get my CP2017 three slide project to tech support and then hope they patch the upgrade routine in NOW time.

My gut feeling is that there has to be more involved in this issue than just the upgrade. To my knowledge, yours is about the first thread about an upgrade issue since the release of Cp 2019 a couple of weeks ago.
If nobody was able to upgrade Cp 2017 projects to Cp 2019 we would have dozens of threads about it on the forum by now and there would be users baying for blood.
If other people are able to upgrade projects, there must be something different about either your particular project, or your particular installation.

Rod,
I don't disagree, but because my projects all started more than 10 years ago, I suspect some bad junk in the files. I am contacting Tech support now and will do all that I can to get them this project to see what they get. I have 128 Lessons that include about 1,700 slides, 512 Quizzes in about 225 Question Pools, 225 videos... Not able to use any of these. Easy enough to download again and re-install if needed. Tech support first. !

Yes I would also suspect the issue is related to the fact that your project files may have some 'junk' floating around under the hood causing issues. The most likely place (in my experience) seems to be related to quizzing, especially question pools.
You mentioned that you have question pools in your projects. I would suggest that you taking one of the CPTX files, make a copy to play with, and try these experiments:
If your issue is really related to the fact that you've been upgrading the same project from RoboDemo days, good luck with the hope that Adobe would issue a patch for that. If they do, go buy a lottery ticket as well.

Reported to Tech support. They get the same results. Off to the developers it goes. I sent the my hacked project and my smallest project and it was the same in both on Adobe Support's computers. Probably just old stuff from upgrades that needs a cleaning on the upgrade.
I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled (what a pain in the A&$$ to sign up for a demo again) and then rebooted after the install. Same results. You can copy the project to a NEW CP2019 project. But then you need to copy over the Quizzes and assign them to the Pools and then set all of the Preferences and skins and setup the SCORM options, Etc. I did one last night and it took an hour. Not good. I could setup a base template and then just reuse it over and over and over again. but the Master Slides also change about 40 times.
My solution for now is to run CP2017 for my on-line learning stuff until they patch this issue.
My projects with no Quiz Pools or no Quizzes are fine and they seem to upgrade OK in CP2019. They are also generally newer than my eLearning stuff that has been upgraded over time. It does seem to the the Quiz Pools / Quizzes that drive this issue. The developers can write a cleanup routine that fixes the file issue and actually "upgrade" it correctly in the end. I am not doing the shovel-it-over from CP2017 to CP2019 one project at a time, just too time intense and I will surely break a lot of stuff that will then make my users upset. Patience. I am fine with CP2017 for the eLearning side of my business for now.

Thanks for the information. I too must wait to upgrade my team because we have more than 1100 lessons created (initially) in versions as early as 6 and I have lost track of which ones are that old.
A year ago we started a refit of all industry content to include quiz pools. All other lessons have a quiz. I'm still trying to decide how to handle the white screen with the black play button because we occasionally republish a single lesson in a course and don't want to have one lesson look different, so we have not yet even applied the final update to 2017.
We have a lot invested in our Captivate content but I really don't know how to proceed at this point. Nightmare city!!

I received a test patch today and it works .
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot and that was it. Happy now and I assumed I was not possibly the only one with this issue. No word on the patch date.
Our 2017 files are fine. Our 2019 files were the problem.
The journey to cut-out the rollover captions was not as bad as I had expected because I was able to use the State View method to make a button into a two state object. We're 100% HTML5 now.
The START Triangle... Lieve has written about this more than any other person. You can use an image slide as the cover. I edited my image and it says to click the Triangle and I have an arrow pointing to the center where that Triangle appears (see my attached example). This gets hooked-in at the Preferances level as the background...
Edit > Preferences > Project > Start and End - Auto Play and browse to your background image for that.
Set Auto-Play to OFF because it is now a required behavior with browsers and then Browse... to your background image.
I reported a bug with this about 1.5 months ago and it did not make it to CP2019. The bug is that if your image file for the slide start triangle is a stand-alone image and not embedded in the project, then when you do a cleanup of your Assets, it gets marked as an UNUSED asset if you select Unused Items and then it is too easily deleted by you. Yikes!
The workarund to that possible image delete from the Asset Cleanup is to make a slide with that image in the background (drag the image to the timeline). I usually make it the first or last slide it my methodology and then make that slide HIDDEN (right-click thumbnail and select HIDE). Now because it is a slide it will not be part of the delete unused Assets. Yeah, it would be ideal for Adobe to fix this so that it is considered in play somehow. Maybe make a new category in the outline to hold it?
You can copy and paste the caption and arrow from one project to another project if you use different covers for the START Triangle. For some that is a single theme that they use the Asset over and over again. Mine match the Lesson and thus I tweak as I develop the lessons.
I have no clues about a patch to the masses for the CP2019 issue noted in this post thread. They did fix it and I tested that it is OK now. I assisted them with mockups and feedback and they assisted me. No other information was provided. I know from the past that it needs to go through QC testing channels and sign-offs before it will appear in your update. Very happy to see the turnaround time on this. Adobe corporate users tend to be later adopters, but those larger companies might be testing it out and of course I am not the only one affected.

Thanks JoeCap, hopefully the patch will be generally available soon.
Is there anyone with Adobe "listening" that can tell me when we can expect that patch?
