button to open URL of website works in preview, not when published

I am trying to publish a project that has a button that will link to a website. When I preview the project, the button works perfectly and opens a new window in IE that goes to the website. When I publish the project as a SWF, the project plays perfectly, but the button does not open IE, instead it just proceeds to the next slide.

Any tips?

Thanks for sharing that article! It had some really important information in it. Unfortunately, when I changed the Global Security Settings, then closed and reopened the browser, the SWF still wouldnt allow the button to open the URL. Did I miss something?

Hi There,

Could you please confirm which drive you have added under the trusted locations ? Is it the same drive where you have published the project ?

Also, please try to view the output on different browser and see if that makes any difference.

Regards,
Ajit

Hi,

I tried playing it with a different browser, same result. It's my local drive, i made the trusted location the same folder where I publish the outputs to.

Hi There,

Can you try to add the whole drive under the trusted location for an e.g.  if you published your project in a folder placed at C:\Users\username\Documents\My Adobe Captivate Projects then try to add whole C Drive and then restart IE and see if that makes any difference.

Regards,
Ajit

Hi again,

That worked, kind of! Now in IE the button links to a URL, but chrome doesn't.

Is this just an issue for me as a developer, or will users who view this SWF face this issue as well?

Thanks!

Hi there

Normally things like this are not an issue once you place the content where users access it via HyperText Transfer Protocol. This is because things like that end up in the Temporary Files location and that location is in a security sandbox.

Cheers... Rick
