While preparing for my Creating Interactive Videos with Adobe Captivate session at the Learning Solutions 2015 conference, I discovered what appears to be an unfortunate flaw in Captivate 8 (and still exists in Captivate 9).
Basically, if I add a video to a slide and place buttons or smart shapes used as buttons on top of the video, it does not allow 'jump to slide' action to work.
The only way I could get this to work was with Click Boxes. Buttons and smart shapes used as buttons should work, but they do not.
What I was trying to do is play a video on slide 1. When the video ends, two opaque smart shapes used as buttons appear on the video giving the user a choice on what to do next. If the user clicks the first smart shape, they jump to slide 2 where a video plays showing the result of their choice. If the user clicks the second smart shape, they jump to slide 3 where a video plays showing the result of that choice. The 'jump to slide' action failed to function at all with smart shapes used as buttons. It also failed when I set the button and smart shapes used as button to execute an advanced action with a jump to slide action.
The only effective workaround is the use of click boxes.
Adobe: Can you fix this bug with buttons and smart shapes used as buttons? If you would like I can send you the Captivate files that show it failing (with smart shapes used as buttons) and succeeding (with click boxes).
Have something to add?
