Buttons/Window frozen when importing/converting from Power Point

I am using the newest Captivate for 2017 on a Mac with PowerPoint version 15.23.

When I do the transfer, the window that initially pops up to preview the slides does not respond when any of the buttons or boxes are clicked. It cannot be closed or minimized, only moved.  The only option is to Quit Adobe Captivate from the drop down Adobe Captivate menu bar.

I have read other help sites and know many people have experienced this.  I have tried the suggested fixes to no avail.

FYI- I do have Administrator permissions and I have tried converting the .pptx to a .ppt.

Thanks for any help-

Kez

Is it possible that at some time you may have used a dual monitor setup?

Try this experiment: Try doing another PPT import and when you get to the 'frozen' dialog, hit the ESCAPE key on your keyboard.  If that returns control of Captivate to you, then I would say that your issue is related to another dialog appearing somewhere outside the visible area of your monitor.

I had actually considered that because I do use a dual monitor set up. Hitting Esc does close the window that is frozen however the imported ppt does not load or get saved as a captx.

OK.  Well that's progress.  What I am suggesting is that the reason your PPT is not getting imported is that the dialog you cannot see (because it's out of view off screen somewhere) probably has something you needed to do select to complete the import.

So, you have two choices:

  1. Recreate the previous dual monitor setup so that you can see all of the dialogs again.
  2. Reset your Preferences by executing the Windows or MAC batch file in the Captivate install directory Utils folder.

That should get you somewhere.
