Can I hyperlink to an EXE file?

Contributor ,

Cp7, Windows 7(64)

I want to create a CD-ROM for customers.

I want to link to several projects.

One of the projects has its own loader and directory structure.

I want to link to this non-Captivate EXE file,

I have published all "my" projects as EXE files (the other project was created by someone else).

Aggregator only allows SWF (makes sense).

I am trying to develop a Captivate project that will have hyperlinks to EXEs published by Captivate and to a non-Captivate EXE (which is in its own subdirectory).

When I link to the EXE I get file not found or website not found.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Michael

What is the format of this non-EXE file?

Sent a private message to you about the EXE not created by me.

However, I have a general question that I hope to find an answer for:

A) I develop a Cp7 project

B) I publish that project as an EXE file

C) I create another project

D) In this new project, I want to have a hyperlink associated with a word or two in a SmartShape.

E) How do I get the hyperlink to open the EXE I created and published first?

I can't seem to find how to manage the file locatons. When I do a similar thing but publish to SWF/HTML, I can link to the other projects with no difficulty. When the other projects are EXEs, I can't seem to get it to work.

I am disappointed that I cannot find a help page or other documentation that will guide me through the process.

Thank you again for any help you can offer.

Michael

I have sent you a private message. Check that and confirm if that helps.

Thank you, Sreekanth. I am working on it now. The samples you sent work fine on my computer. Now I am recehecking my project to make it work like your sample.

I wonder if I could look at that private message too. I'm also looking for a way to link 2 projects that are published as Flash Projector files.

Thanks

My basic problem is I need to have 2 quizzes in one project which would be published as an executable (both Win & Mac). I had hoped to put a link in the project, after the 1st quiz, that would link to and open the 2nd executable project with a 2nd quiz.

I'm developing on a Mac, and the "Open URL or file" action will not link to a Mac executable .app file, the file I'd like to open is greyed-out and not selectable.

I understand this, "I want more than one quiz" thing is quit a common request from CP users, but I'm getting the impression there is really no solution.

I'm assuming from your mention of EXE files that you are not considering using an LMS here. Rather than trying to use EXE or APP files the better solution here is to publish to HTM/SWF and use an ordinary HTM file as a menu file with hyperllink to launch each module.

Captivate only allows on quiz in each project file, but it now also allows a pretest quiz in the same file if desired.  However, there are restrictions when using pretests.  For example, it disables the playbar for the entire module among other things.

If you want multiple quizzes, all you need to do is divide your course into multiple CPTX files, each with its own quiz.
