Have you ever created your own versions, or added to Adobe Captivate's Caption Styles?
Short answer is yes. I've created quite a few. You need to create bmp's and associated FCM files in the Gallery/Captions folder.
There is a blog somewhere on how to do it as it's particular about the pixels around the edge.

Yes, but I find it bit 'old style', too much work compared with the ease of formatting shapes which appeared with version 6. I never use captions anymore. David points out how you can create captions.

Do you just import from other Adobe applications for that?

Shapes can be created fully within Captivate, and can have any 'shape' (you can edit the points), can be filled with a solid color, a gradient (all to be configured in CP) and an image. Moreover the callout shapes allow to move the 'arrow', it is never totally fixed like for the captions. Moreover they are vector-based. It is for the custom captions that you need an external application (graphical), not for shapes.
