Cap 2017, new icon, want to remove action

New Here ,

Hello -

I have Captivate 2017, and I have found a new icon that I don't recognize.  It is a small light blue square with small lines and an arrow pointing to the top right hand corner.  It shows up only in Preview, and when clicked it makes the text on screen come up on a different background.  I understand it to be some sort of way for the text to be larger and/or more contrast, however I would like to remove it for my project.  How can I remove this action?

Thank you

Are you talking about a responsive project, created with Fluid Boxes? In that case it is the Expand Text button which appears when the text doesn't fit anymore in the text container.

Doesn't sound right - the text all fits in the text container.

On all devices? You ddin't answer my question. If you don't like that icon, switch back to Breakpoint Views for responsive projects. The only tip I can give is to lower the minimum font size from 14 to 10.

I don't know how to tell if the project is responsive.  It was not mine originally.  I can try the Breakpoint Views if you can quickly tell me how.

After some research, this icon does not seem to be related to fluid boxes.  Any other ideas?

It is related to Fluid Boxes, I never did see it in normal, non-responsive projects.

You switch to Breakpoint Views, using Project menu. Switch to Breakpoint mode. If you have that option, you are on a responsive project.

The Switch to Breakpoint mode is greyed out.

Can you post a screenshot please? If that option is greyed out, you are on a normal project, but want to be sure: it is the upper part of the UI which is important. Up till now I have never seen that icon in a non-responsive project.

I've got it figured out.  This tutorial helped: Prevent Responsive Text Pop-Outs from Appearing | eLearning

It was the margins.

That tutorial is for a responsive project, developed with fluid boxes. That icon should never appear in a non-responsive project. You told it was non-responsive.

It helped because it offered several things to try to fix it and one worked for me.  I don't know about if that was a responsive vs non, old version vs new, etc etc but I got my solution so I'm moving on.

I am bit worried, because if this is a normal project, and that icon appears, it looks like the file is getting corrupted. Hope I'm worng, it was the reason I wanted to be sure about the status of the file.

That icon appears whenever text is perceived by captivate to not fit in the text box.

I have found it most often appearing whenever a blank line follows the input text (and as such the user doesn't notice that the text extends beyond the height of the textbox.) It is also more common in IE as that browser has an unfortunate habit of presenting the text with padding inconsistent with what captivate shows (and as such the text falls onto new lines).

Essentially it will go away as long as you give the box slightly more space after the last line than you would expect and make sure that there are no random empty lines.
