Captivate 10: Mobile formatting differs (more spacing than seen in program)

Hello!

I am curious how I can adjust the text spacing of my previewed project to properly match what I am making in my captivate project. The mobile view seems to add a lot more spacing.Capture.PNG

Which font are you using and which browser? This is a Preview, did you try to publish, upload to a webserver and test on real devices?

Using the font Arial, testing in Chrome. Publishing the document and testing from server still yields larger spacing.

I know that the spacing is bigger for mobile screens when you compare preview with the stage while editing. You need to leave more space or text will overflow. These screenshots however show a very different leading, I totally agree.  I only upgraded a couple of projects from 9 to 10, didn't develop in Breakpoint mode yet. Was this a project developed new in CP10?

In Breakpoint mode, not with Fluid boxes, correct? Which theme did you use? An original 2017 theme? I want to try a new project the same way, tomorrow (almost midnight here), but need those details.

You have two text containers on that slide, how did you set up the Position Properties?

Hi,

Can you also mention if this text was pasted or typed in, in addition to Lieve's concerns?

Thanks,

Mohana

I have been using normal text boxes. I created this document from new, so no theme. What do you mean by "position properties"?

Text is typed in (for most of the project). If that's the cause of an issue, that's extremely silly and should definitely be fixed.

Sorry, but every Captivate project is based on a Theme, it is impossible to have 'no theme'. Check the used theme under the Themes button, please.

Text containers can be shape or captions. I suspect you mean Text Captions, not shapes?

The Position and size of any object in a responsive project is set up in the Position Properties panel. It can be done relative to the borders, in % or pixels. It can be done relative to other objects as well. With Breakpoint work flow it has to be done for every breakpoint view you want to configure.

Mohana was asking about pasting from another app, because it is not a good practice to use formatted text from an app like Word since that will bring in a lot of extra code. You should style any text in Captivate directly, not in another application. Same advice as is valid for any desktop publisher application (InDesign, Quark Xpress).

I meant that I used a blank white theme, built the project from there and edited parts of it (some things on the master slide).

Yes I used text captions instead of shapes.

I did all my formatting within Captivate.

Here are position settings of a text caption that is acting in a similar way. All of the text caption spacing in this document is expanding further than usual in the tablet / mobile view:Capture.PNG

Hi,

Can you send us a sample slide from the project you created?

You can drop a mail to CaptivateHelp@adobe.com by mentioning this thread in the subject line.

Also share your sample project using drop box or google drive.

Regards,

Zeeshan
