Hello:
After beating my head aginst the wall with another tool, I decided I'd try Captivate for a software simulation. I'm hoping to make a business case to purchase a license.
While testing an app recording (I chose Zoom) on my MacBook (currently updating the app to 11.8.1), I was surprised to only see my desktop background overlaid by the various interaction objects once I finished the recording. I am not running an external monitor, and I had Demo and Training selected as my recording options.
Has anyone else encountered this little hiccup?

I have seen this same issue appearing before, only for Mac users and wonder if it is a bug?
Software simulations use the Blank master slide. Do you use a theme which has such a master slide?

Hi:
Thanks for the swift response.
So far as I know I had not applied a theme to the resulting capture, and I presumed that it uses a blank master slide.
Are you aware of the same issues occurring when operating in Manual mode versus Auto? I'd have to have to use a separate screen cap tool and load all the media into Captivate when I *should* be able to use the capture mechanism built into the tool

...and operating in Manual mode yielded the same result: A lovely view of my desktop background, sans icons, and including the keystroke/mouse action prompts and feedback.

Each Captivate project is based on a theme. Check it under the Themes button.
Do you see Backgrounds in the Library? Are they also empty?
With Manual you mean using the PrintScreen button to add an extra screenshot, I suspect that will also be empty.

I *think* I understand. I checked the Theme on the captures I just created. Selecting "Blank" didn't seem to make a difference.
I don't have a PrintScreen button on my Mac, but Ctrl-Enter triggered the canmera shutter sound as did any text entry.

Sorry, I am a Windows user. The keys triggering manual capture are in the Preferences, Recording.
I really have no idea, and suspect this to be a bug in the Mac version, since only Mac users have been mentioning this problem which is very annoying.
