Captivate 12.5 - Closed Captions and TOC

Hi all,

Hi! I am trying to figure out a couple things and I'm not getting anywhere in or in community and web searches. I've wasted so much time I can't think straight and definitely thought this would be simpler. If anyone can help - I'd apprecaite it!

1 - How can I make it so that Closed Captions don't automatically display? If I have them, on their own or connected to generated text to voice, they appear by default and you need ot turn them off using the playbar. I'd like the opposite - for them not to appear and for learners to toggle them on using the playbar. I have them toggled on in the playbar settings and they're toggled on in project properties (if I turn this off, they don't appear but the CC button in the playbar is also not available).

2 - I want to inlcude the TOC so learners know what's ahead and what's behind them, and can revisit a specific slide if they so choose. BUT - I don't want to be able to see slide time because it's irrelevant in this course. I can't for the life of me figure out how to hide this column but am really hoping I can.

1. Very tough question! I can not figure out an easy way to set this up. The only way I have figured out how to make this work is creating a new button (on each slide 🙄) and setting it to "toggle variable" and toggle the CC variable. You'd want CC set OFF to start, you can do that by either shutting off "show close captions" at the start or to set slide enter interaction to "false" for closed caption variable.\

2. No way to edit the TOC. It's unfortunate.

Thank you @clairei13374473 . Definitely not the answers or insights I was hoping for, but I was kind of expecting them. Both seem so basic. And the lack of editing allowed on the TOC actually impacts the look and design of a project, which is so unfortunate.

But again - thank you! I can at least getting frustrated at my inability to solve these.
